From FRONTLINE producers Rick Young, Emma Schwartz & Fritz Kramer and NPR correspondent Laura Sullivan, the documentary examines how pressure to increase profits and uneven government support are widening the divide between rich and poor hospitals, endangering care for low-income populations.
NPR is scheduled to air a story from the investigation that same day on “All Things Considered.”

Here in Texas if you're poor and on Medicaid you're probably not going to make it out of the hospital alive it's really sad

No. The poor can't give out campaign donations.
That's why we poors have to protest. Annoying and embarrassing the crap out of them is the only alternative we have, they won't listen to us if we ask politely.
I'm in the Houston area, I'm lucky to have Harris Health, but I worry someone will yank funding.
My meds/pill buffet retail at about $1800. If I lose access I've got a couple of things to do, but none very satisfactory.
My opinion:
We need Medicare for all plus grants for a lot more clinics/hospitals in underserved rural areas.

Wow, Healthcare includes preventive services and research. The rights, privileges, and dignities that were disposed of for the sake of the one percent, PROVES education was just a phrase. Willfully blind and bowed cowards, wrapped up in pop culture wars. Obsessed with, sex, screens, and dreams of being on casting couches. Living room or Hollywood lot. Trash outnumbers truth. Our history and blood was allowed to die untouched, uncomforted, and unavenged. For 30 pieces of silver. Souls are cheap these days.
The system is inhumane. Funds for War gadgets or Police gadgets can be diverted to the Hospitals to Save Lives.
Hospital and profit should not be used in the same sentence. It's disgusting.
This is heartbreaking.
Maybe if hospitals started going back into the community and teaching people how to improve their health so they don't need hospital care as much, we could see a change. Also, many of these people come to the hospital for things that could be handled at an urgent care or a doctor's office but many doctors won't accept their insurance. I work at one of these hospitals and too many of our patients use the ER as their doctor's office.
The american way of life is Soda and fastfood based, plus their lobbying are strong
Many people don't have a choice but to use the E.R. because they can't afford health insurance.
More medical supplies need to be shipped to California, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, New York, and Virginia in all of these seven states. USA 🇺🇸 👏 needs to be equipped medically to prepare for the next unexpected Global recession. Great documentary video.

I wouldn’t necessarily denigrate garbage truck drivers. It’s just @Brian Jensen here who’s in denial of the facts.
I’m fortunate to live in a college town where everyone’s pretty smart, and our adult population is projected to have something close to a 95% vaccination rate by July 2021… sanitation workers and all!
Brian either is simply undereducated and unfortunate enough to have fallen for some tall tales, or else is a bored pre-adolescent troll or an adult with the emotional maturity of a tween, or else is an entirely fake account… so he’s kind of an outlier; most people instead want to get along and are quite thirsty for genuine knowledge!
And in our future classless society, everyone will be well-educated, and all people at any level of pre-employment or employment or unemployment or retirement will be equally respected, so… best to start practicing our manners today by conferring respect to sanitation workers! ✌️
