I just had this discussion with my son. He has a Warn 8500 with a steel cable and the rollers. I have a Zeon 12s with synthetic. We both prefer the looks of the ,Watn 8500 and the roller style, but both are on Jeep TJ‘s. A lot of people want more of a steam lined look but not us. Other than getting that synthetic line caught in the corner, there can be no conceivable advantage from getting away from the rollers. Good content.

Good comments for both sides! I appreciate the information, I just got a hawse for my synthetic rope.

Hey there all the way from Australia.
I've had this discussion with a mate of mine here and came to the conclusion that if the roller fairlead doesnt have any burrs or nicks in the rollers and you're not pulling on extreme angles, then there is nothing wrong with using it, providing its in good condition and the rollers actually roll well (mine is on an ARB bar on an 80 series Landcruiser.
Unfortunately my Warn 9500XDC motor has failed and was in the process of converting it from steel cable to rope, and I was just going to stick with the rollers regardless as I like the look 😄
Time for a new winch, but I'll still be sticking with the roller fairlead.

Even if the roller stopped spinning it still offers a smoother edge than the hawse.

The roller is far superior to the hawse. The hawse destroys winch ropes.

I use the HawsePro. I think it is the best roller fairlead for synthetic rope.

Great video .. first time Atv user and using it to plow snow. I have a synthetic 3/16 line and a factor 55 hawse fairlead . No problems with it so far but my brain just feels like a roller fairlead for synthetic rope will be more forgiving. Since I’m Just simply using it for plowing do you think it makes a big difference ?
