  • I've had this problem where I get clothing for good deals but limits my selection. so being able to alter, namely tapper, your own clothing. I wanted to layout this stight forward method for working on your own button-up shirts.

    Great video. Love them all. I have an uncommon build (5'3", 29" waist, 36" chest) and even though I’m athletic build, my height makes it very difficult to buy clothes that fit. Thanks to your videos, I’m now altering my pants, waists, and dress shirt arm lengths. I did wonder if this is possible (slimming the arms AND bodice) so now this opens up even more possibilities for me. Thanks for the effort you put into these! 👍

    Love the content! Very thoughtful and well put together. Thanks so much for producing this channel. Only suggestion I’d say outside looking in is that you could potentially focus more attention on production value (lighting, background, etc.). Keep thriving! 🤟🏼

    Hey love your videos, was just wondering, how did you close the seam at the wrist? Don't think I caught that. Thanks, Joe

    Hey, question.... would you know anything about correcting huge mistake of shrinking wool trousers or wool sweaters.... I suppose as a Taylor, you wouldn't have experienced with reversing shrinkage. I had read something about a product that will reverse shrinkage and restore size. Have you heard anything about this subject? Much appreciated, keep rocking your craft and experience.

      Sorry for the late response. What I do it get them soaking wet and give them a really good stretch. DO NOT put them in the dryer. Do this a few time and you should get a good amount of it back to shape.

    Thank you so much I love a nice tailored shirt & thanks to you I have just got myself a sawing machine. I am going to practice doing this on some shirts I have got from a charity shop. What you show us all is ideal for men & women. I am in the U.K. near York & I have told many of my friends to look you up. Thank you once again. I wear a lot of chinos if possible could you show us how to put those elasticated side in I have seen some wear you can use buttons with the elastic. Hope you can understand my rambling 😊 take care Cx

    If you also need to shorten the sleeves, do you shorten the sleeves before or after?

    I tried to alter my button down shirt, but everytime i wear it after finishing, i cant raise my arms over 90° or it will get too tight. Any suggestions there?

    Would it be the same principle on say a Henley long sleeve. Taking the sides in & sleeves. To make it look more fitted. Thank you once again, stay safe 😊

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  Před 4 lety

      Cheryl Wagstaff I have a t-shirt tapering video that would be exactly like a Henley. But other then working with the top stitch on this video it is the same method as well.

    Thanks for the help 😁👍 Is it cool to press on a table with a towel like that? Does it mess up the table?

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  Před 4 lety +1

      Elsif you might want to double up the towel to be safe. But your table should be fine

    Could you do this and add darts or would it mess it up?

    • @AspiringGent

      Ryan Agar no you can do sides and darts no problem!

  • @schandler4958

    Why not turn it inside out and pin it?

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  Před 4 lety

      S Chandler you can but it doesn’t always lay right on your body while making it

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  Před 4 lety

      And buttoning you’re up inside out is more work then it’s worth
