    Very well explained. Especially about prising the casing out. The other video I watched didn't explain that and I thought my car must be different. I completed it in minutes thanks to your detailed video. Cheers, Martin.

I have a question its about a peugeot 307 1.4 petrol 2003 on the board computer its showing antipollution fault and the check engine is on, but the car has not lost any power and sometimes the check engine goes off and noting shows on the computer. What can it be ? Thanks anyway 👍👍

      I'm not sure why that comes on, there seems to be multiple reasons. It happened to me once before after I ran the car in first gear with just one front wheel jacked up off the ground and spinning. I cleared the error and it never came back. I'm not sure what caused that though. Here's a link to a forum about this error: www.peugeotforums.com/threads/antipollution-fault.20537/

    Good day, take it easy, today while checking the spark plugs, the spark plugs were oily as if I was taking them out of the oil, what could be the reason for this, there is a bidet misfire in the car pejo 307 1.6 16v 2004 Model Thank you very much for your interest and interest, I subscribed as soon as I saw your beautiful videos

    Just got a 207 with handbrake issues (has rear discs), One of the cables seems longer than the other & as a result one of them jumps out of the bracket as the bracket goes really wonky when handbrake is pulled, I have ordered a new cable but would you say i have a caliper issue?, Thanks for the vid by the way!.

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Před 10 měsíci +1

      It's hard to say until you have a look. The cable could have stretched or the previous owner may have installed an incorrect cable. Check if the pads are worn equally on both sides and also check the function of the the handbrake levers on each caliper.

      @@screwsnutsandbolts Thanks for that, I was thinking maybe somebody had fitted a wrong cable, will drop one off & compare it with a new one that has just turned up.

    New disks, new pads, new cables, one new jaw.. when the car is on jack, handbrake works very good, but when i drive and pull handbrake, only one wheel is blocking, other os freely rotating, what to do?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm not sure. It could be a problem with the caliper on that side

      I found a hidden error of a hot brake on a Ford: the oil pipe went wrong because of exreme hot , its inner surface closed the pipe. The brake oil could go in the cilinder because of pushed pedal, but could not go back and the pads always worked. After changing the pipe the brake become ok.
      Your case is similar tricky.

    is it really necessary to be jacked up ⬆️ on a stand ? i just want ti thighten up a bit

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Před 2 lety +1

      You can take up the slack on the handbrake cables without jacking the car up but then it's harder to check if the brake is dragging on either side of the vehicle.

    Does this method also fix handbrake imbalance?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Před 2 lety

      This is only a handbrake adjustment. Imbalance between the rear brakes could be a different issue with one side or the other

    • @laszlodudas7313
      @laszlodudas7313 Před 2 lety

      As I could see in this excellent video, the cable mechanism provides a limited balancing capability with automatic balancing. The surface under the mutter is arched and the ends of the two cables have ball end to fit perfectly. There is not any setting possibility of the cables length when the cables continued with the bowden, or at the end of the bowden outer shell. (Excuse my English.)
      See the cable change here: czcams.com/video/jP6PmOLmlvI/video.html
      It proves that there is not any setting possibility for the movement length of the cable of the bowden relatively to the bowden shell.
      A very good reasoning of the imbalanced hand brake is given here:
      czcams.com/video/ogBTTuaOQLw/video.html
      If you remove the lever of the brake because of e.g. piston change, you can put it back in wrong orientation. This also can result in imbalancing effect. To avoid this I suggest to mark the orientation of the lever on the axis before removal.

    NEVER pull the handbrake up on the ratchet!! Press the release button before using it up & let go when it's set. The amount of wear & tear on the pawl is significant over an extended period and can (and does) result in the handbrake mechanism failing.

    • @pifandrei5743

      Thats the stupidest thing i ever heard . My dad owned cars, i have, and not one single hand brake failed . Why would it fail? They built not to fail. Currently have a 20 year old car with everything original, including the lever. Works just fine . They built to pull it like that.
