One of the more stressful aspects of qualifying for a ROTC Scholarship or Service Academy appointment is clearing the medical qualification process. In this episode, we talk about why candidates are disqualified from DODMERB and the steps you can take to obtain a waiver.

Thanks for the info, it would've been great to hear all this when I first started my DODMERB process (over a year ago).
This is my 4th and last semester as a cadet before I'll be forced to leave of the program if I don’t get my medical waiver!
I left previous career and chose the school I now attend because of the great ROTC program they host. I joined the Ranger Challenge team and have been competing with them during the last few semesters. We won the Mountain Man Memorial March and placed second in our brigade competition (which qualified us for the Sandhurst competition which we are not prepping for). I have good academic and PT scores and am looking forward to a career in the army as an officer. But now I might be kicked from the program because I need a piece of paper (medical waiver), this is besides the fact that I don’t take any medication or have any issues. I’ve earned some awards for myself and trophies for the school; I’m good to go and ready for action, but this might all come to an end very soon.

Hi! I have a follow up question, now that the FDA has approved Xolair for peanut allergies, would that make it easier to get a medical waiver?
