      With a reasonable amount of care you can easily do it without scratching anything. if somebody still wants to use a plastic device you don't have to buy a special tool. Use an ice scraper or any other plastic object that you can find in your home.
      If you can't find anything and you're still Afraid of using a metal tool just wrap it with a piece of masking tape

    Some model years don't use that clipping style light but instead they have 2 screws.
    None of my Phillips fit properly and it was a pain. I believe Subaru uses the JIS screws, which is Japanese industrial standard. it looks similar to Phillips but it's a little different.
    it's probably worth getting a set of JIS screwdrivers if you want to do a little jobs like this on your Subaru or other Japanese machine.
