- On May 2 Loreena McKennitt participated in The Stratford Perth Community Foundation’s, "Stay @ Home" Virtual Gala. She spoke as a local citizen drawing on her experience as The Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force, as a foundation fund-holder supporting nursing excellence and as the owner and director of The Falstaff Family Centre.
The online gala was a one-night event uniting Canadians across the country with the aim of strengthening community efforts and to raise critical funds to manage the impact of the COVID-19 virus on our communities.

You don't know this, but you and I go back decades. While I've rocked my children to sleep, you've been there in the background playing. When I felt over worked, or blue, you were there in the background playing. You played for me in the good times as well, during celebrations, or just with a glass of wine at the end of the day. Now to hear you in these dark days or isolation, well you've made my week.

Does anyone have any idea how massively difficult it is to keep someone with add/adhd enthralled enought to listen to a lengthy message, no matter how beautiful or powerful? The way you, Miss Loreena, speak is captivating and it draws you in and makes you want to hang on every word. Your words are so mystical and soulfelt. You can feel your heart hanging in every syllable you speak and it really connects with people in astounding ways and on deep levels. I have always held you in the highest regards, and I think you are the greatest artist I have ever heard. The way you've chosen to live your life is very inspiring and you have made a wonderful set of footsteps to help guid people onto the path to better their environment and community and especially each other. Your music has been a very integral part of my life since the start of my 3rd yr in high school(2009). I then, had recently lost my my uncle and great grandmother (who was like a saint in my eyes).
School was an absolute nightmare as well as life. My school’s Occupational Therapist got me hooked on your music, and you instilled this new sense of beauty in life and the world around me, that despite the dark and horrible things that happen in this world, there’s still a ray of light and hope.
You speak with such wisdom, poise and heartfelt sincerity, you truly are inspiring, my lady.

Beautifully said. Being in service to one another is the greatest form of giving. Without expectation without gain. Loreena, your music has been therapy to my family especially my son who has autism. He just adores your music. During quarantine we had a bonfire for Beltane and played your music. The melodies, the herbs, the moonlight, the dancing and warmth of the fire enabled us to “escape” for awhile. It was pure bliss. Thank you!

Never take anything for granted. I lost my favorite singer songwriter almost 5 years ago. Brianna was 32 years old. This was 9 months after my bride became and angel. I had never had the opportunity to see Loreena live before yet had been a fan for over 25 years. In 2016 I made it a point to do so in Phoenix, Az. Never take anything for granted. Hearing her with no music is as much a pleasure as hearing her music.

Wow, that moved me to tears. I'm trapped half a world away from my Loved One and each day is a blessing as we can talk to each other. Hearing Loreena speak reminds me that we aren't alone in this and pray that our leaders will learn from this. Sadly though, I don't think they will. I spent a day with my very young daughter (at the time) - she is a grown woman now lol - we walked thru a shopping centre together and I was focused on what she wanted. Very well said, The nurses of this world could never be paid what they are worth, as I very pointedly learned when a P.A. (advanced from nursing) diagnosed a condition which had nearly done me in(never recognized by my doctor) a nursing staff in a medical center worked wonders and skilled surgeons put me back together, then a lot more nursing, their patience, concern, and humor made all the difference, I had no idea how important they were until I needed them. those who fight on the front lines of this crises should be never forgotten as they are now vital for us all.
During my little adventure, her music was most valuable, as often when I am down, or bothered I will put on the headphones and listen to an hour or two,-or so of her music, and find myself nicely sorted out at the end, the night prior to going to the operating room early in the AM sleep was not to be had, I knew there was a small chance I would wake up in the next world, if not it would be in a halo(getting a halo one way or the other perhaps...), so I connected my phone to my headphones and listened to music I loved all night, the largest part being Ms. Mekennitt, and Enya,I wasn't worried about sleep as I knew I would be taking a; long nap and soon-I went under feeling very calm and ready for whatever was to be. (which was a long but great recovery, and nearly 100 percent back to me-she was a massive help in those hours.
