    I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for...

      Have you considered moving out a little bit? That’s what we did. We actually have milk goats ,chickens,ducks, fruit trees, nut trees and a garden and feel much more secure being able to provide more for ourselves and be less dependent on the system

    Fun fact: Bexar is pronounced "Behar" because when the Spanish came, the J was not yet in the Spanish alphabet. Reason why México in Spanish is spelled with an X but pronounced with a Spanish J sound. I've been living in SA since 2003.

    I lived in SA, prop taxes were 3% and went up every year. Houses are built cheaply, cutting corners. Foundations are not dug into ground for stability. They are on top of unleveled ground with brush and weeds left in place.

    • @LifeinSATX
      @LifeinSATX  Před 11 měsíci +8

      When did you live here? I’m not sure where you ever saw foundations built like that. But property tax rates are most definitely not 3% or even close to that on average here. And for the record, for my house, the tax rate has gone down the last two years. Not up.

    What I love about living in the San Antonio metro is the fact that the Rockport is just down the road, and Port Aransas, and of course you're beautiful Hill Country and all the beautiful towns that surround San Antonio not to mention, of course all the San Antonio has to offer.

    I moved from California to San Antonio back in 2011 and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. San Antonio is getting crowded though and it's not as cheap as it used to be 😢. Thanks for the video. I really like it here. But housing has gotten ridiculous. I wouldn't be able to afford a house in my area now (1604 and Culebra) if I had to do that move in 2024, which is crazy 😢.

    Everyone must know that if you drive a ford truck, you WILL get it broken into. Plan on this being a constant thing. Also even had my taillights stolen, apparently it’s a thing here too, and it will take a long time to get them replaced. Real estate and rental prices are overpriced. Investors have bought up tons of properties and price gouge people. If you have a family with kids I’d recommend just moving to Boerne, Bulverde, or New Braunfels to keep your kids out of the ghetto schools.

    I love San Antonio, but my biggest issue since settling here after I left the military is how slow things develop here. I get the history needs to be preserved, but damn something new won't take that away. Then public transportation anywhere in Texas isn't great but it's sad we don't have lite rail and the airport is finally getting a bit more going for it, but overall it's a great place to raise a family, but good luck if you're single or looking for the kind of nightlife you find in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or places like that. Clubs and bars close at 1 or 2am
    Frost Bank and Church's Chicken started here and Frost Bank still has one of it's main corporate offices here as well.

      I don’t sugar coat anything. You want to live in a great place, move to San Antonio. It’s like anywhere else in the world, there’s bad areas and good areas. There’s also angry, miserable people that are going to try to be negative about everything, especially on the internet, but I can tell you that 1,000% there are SOOO many more great people here than people like that. Your instincts are correct, San Antonio is a great place to live. Take what the trolls say with a grain of salt.

      @ABBY-ml2rq like I said, good areas and bad areas. Everything is based on having the right perspective. If you look for the negatives, you’ll find them. I’ve helped literally hundreds of people move here and not a single one has told me they regretted the move.

My friend and I think about moving to San Antonio or Dallas and want to know if one of these city right for us. I heard it a lot to do in entertainment wise. Btw you forgot to mention all the entertainment like fun theme or water parks and concerts if you guys get big name artists.

    • @LifeinSATX
      @LifeinSATX  Před 7 měsíci +1

      There’s a lot to do here but it all depends on what you enjoy the most for where you decide to end up. We don’t get a ton of the big big name concerts but still get plenty of options between the Alamodome and Frost Bank Center. Downtown is way underrated in my opinion and there is quite a bit of stuff to do in the suburbs as well.
