      You never saw Maradona. His vision is realluy of another world and in fact he was a better player then Messi. If you look at the footage and see how many times Maradona dodges massive attacks on his legs and how little that has happened to Messi and others these times, you appreaciate Maradona even more. I have seen both from start to finish and I have to be honest that I wonder how people can even compare Messi to Maradona. The gap in ability is pretty evident and that is telltale because Messi indeed is a superlative player.

    • @danielsan2142
      @danielsan2142 Před rokem +7

      @@Serenoj69 I watched Maradona between 1992 and 1997 in real time as a child, and as an adult I saw several complete (prime) Maradona games in VT through youtube. Maradona was a super genius, too. A monster of unpredictability and talent. Which doesn't negate the fact that Messi was also a super genius. It's not about exclusionary things. Both absolute geniuses!

    • @Serenoj69
      @Serenoj69 Před rokem +1

      @@danielsan2142 I think it is best to see everyone in their time since comparing remains difficult. Having said that, I stand by my remarks (which I did not make here may be) that maradona had a lot a lot tougher times than Messi did in various ways but most of all by defenders that could almost do eveyrthing they wanted and rarely get a card. Messi really does not face that problem. Maradona was in his prima from 1978-1990 with a clear peak between 85 and 89. And of course this is subjective, so people can have theur own opinion and be perfectly right.

    • @gomessylvester205
      @gomessylvester205 Před rokem +1

      @@Serenoj69 Messi does face the same problems as Maradona ! The card rules have developed just as the game has and defenders now a days commit more technical fouls ! Messi was very injury prone in the beginning of his career due to his explosive speed as defenders found it easier to foul him using his speed ! Thank-fully Barca and Pep found the solution and Messi has learned to avoid even double footed challenges, 3-4 on one challenges ! So it is more of Messi's skill to avoid the challenges rather than absorbing them! Messi's longevity is also a testimony of his greatness !

    • @Serenoj69
      @Serenoj69 Před rokem

      @@gomessylvester205 Not really. What you saw in the 80s (and probably 70s and 60s also) you simply rarely see in the 2000s let alone that such charges are left without any penalty to thje offender (mostly a defender btw). Maradona was excellent at ducking charge after charge and only got hit seriously once by the Butcher of Bilbao, Andoni Goicoechea. In fact, yesterday on the Dutch tele there was a discussion on how defenders have changed their behaviour and are now going towards offenders with their hands on their backs in order to avoid penalties for instance. You can see that people walking with hands on their backs are hampered since our arms are there to give us maximum balance. Which is left now. And we could see how Messi slalomed through no less than four defenders all with their hands on their backs and barely touching hum, yet using apologetic gestures at the ref (I did not touch him!) in order to avoid a penaltykick. These gestures came even when Messi just went trhough like they weren't there, so he was not even remotely close to being fouled. Don't tell me that all this is due to Messi's great skills (which are undoubtedly true btw). this has all to do with a change in rules in which defenders are fouled far more often for far less than ever before.

    This is the thing with Messi. He makes these passes so often each match. With a lot of legendary players I grew up watching, they didn't make their amazing passes continuously multiple times in every single match. While Messi did.
    I think that a lot of people still don't realize what kind of insane player Messi has been for more than a decade. A lot of legendary players maybe had a peak for 3 or 4 years and even in that peak they didn't showcase Messi's consistency and quality. People still trying to compare Messi with Ronaldo is also wild. With the goals there's a debate to be had. Ronaldo certainly is an incredible goalscorer, but with all the other aspects of the game Messi is just in a whole other league by himself. The mixture of Messi's vision, passing, assisting, ball control, agility and the way he can dictate the game is mindblowing. While Ronaldo is more of an end-point. You pass him the ball and he scores. While Messi goes through a whole defense by himself or also makes others play better.

    By far, the best attribute of his current game, and my favourite attribute as well. His playmaking is just beyond imagination.
    Imo, he is one of the 2 best goalscorers of all time (along with Cristiano), the best dribbler of all time (followed by Inter R9 and Maradona) and one of the best playmakers ever (along with Laudrup, Maradona, Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta and Pirlo).
    How he has managed to keep all these aspects of his game at the very top for more than a decade is just beyond human understanding and beyond Science. Simply the GOAT. 🐐 🐐 🐐

    you guys know whats the most shocking about this? there is a maybe handful of players on the entire earth who could claim they are able of playing passes similar to this man (kdb, modric etc.)
    and each of these individuals have their passes as their main quality, but for messi? its literally just average among his other talents
    you think his passes are what makes him special? no
    you think its his precise shots? no
    is it his dribbling? no
    his overview over the playing field? neither
    his freekicks? still no
    he is literally either the best in the world, or among the top 5 players in the world in each of those categories and no footballer in the next 100 years will ever be as complete as this guy
    if you were asked to point out what his best asset is, you simply wouldnt be able to because he is atleast absolute world class in every single one of it
    all the other football legends have 1-2 assets you can point at where they were amazing, but its never going to be as complete as with messi

      He cannot do what Maradona did. He cannot emulate Maradona. Maradona was much more a fighter, had better skills, better feeling for the ball, had much more variety in passing, in wrongfooting oponents, in shooting freekicks, in accelearation and in taking massive attacks on the legs (Messi never gets them) and all that on worse pitches and with far worse teams.
      People here seem to be so eager to declare one of their own (same generation most of the time the GOat). But I think they only saw some clips of Maradona after seeing Messi and just cannot admit their personal idol while really good was outmatched by this man that routinely won matches on his own and routinely started rushes and dribbles well on his own half. Only to be stopped by fouls.
