  • Banana Stem also know as vazha thandu/bale thandu or Banana Flower Stalk" or simply "Banana Tree Trunk. Banana stalks have fiber, which is very beneficial for people who are looking to lose weight. It is also a rich food source of potassium and vitamin B6 which helps in the production of insulin and hemoglobin. Eating banana stem once a week helps control high blood pressure. Banana stem also maintains fluid balance in the body. It is a diuretic and helps to detoxify the body. There is a common belief that eating banana stem is good for patients with kidney stones.
    In addition, banana stem is also used in a number of health conditions such as Dry cough Kidney stones Aids bowel movements Relieves heartburn Aids treatment of anemia Regulates blood pressure Urinary tract infections.
    Banana Stem dosa 1:
    Ingredients:
    1.5 cups - Raw rice(any variety)
    1.5 cup chopped banana stem
    1/2 cup fresh coconut
    2-3 Dried Red chilli
    1 tbsp coriander seeds
    1 tsp cumin seeds/jeera
    1 large grape size tamarind
    1 tsp jaggery
    1 spring curry leaves
    Salt to taste
    Water 1.5 to 2 cup (as needed)
    Oil or Ghee for roasting
