    Sampling is a legit art. You don't need to be Technical to make history. Great examples: Nirvana, the Beatles, pink Floyd (David Gilmore's guitar work, minimal but poiniant) These guys where master's of their basics. And could create some amazing shit. Sampling is one of those things that if you know how to use your gear, you can easily learn it, and put together beautiful pieces of art.

    Excellent and I agree. I got into modern MPCs for stand alone, sure, but eventually I had to admit to myself that I don't mind hybrid setups, and I absolutely *love* my DAW (Bitwig). I'm almost always at a computer, and in fact, my MPC is right next to my computer anyway. So using the software in controller mode was not a stretch at all, and it works very well using the plugin in Bitwig. Not much really changes for me using my MPC stand alone or as a controller for the software. Other than if I turn to the left, I have a 35" ultrawide monitor to work with, too lol.

    • @PHeMoX
      @PHeMoX Před 2 lety

      I had a similar thing with the Maschine Mikro. When you are relying on a PC/laptop anyway, there's no point upgrading to a Maschine+ for example. And the Mikro has less quirks at a way more affordable price point anyway. I did get the MPC One though. The MPC One may not be portable, but being stand alone is good enough for me. The only real exception would be related to using VSTs or sampling from online sources. By the way, it is still 100% pointless to me for a sampler of this type to be truly portable anyway, as you'd usually be hooking up all kinds of gear to it to sample from or to control via midi that wouldn't be portable either. It's why getting the Live 2 just doesn't make sense to me. And who ever does a gig without being connected to a power source? Literally. No. One.

    I bought the MCP One about two weeks ago and am catching on to the ends and out of it already fast. And as I'm learning it I see the less flexibility it has compared to using the software. I use FL studio so my workflow is way faster in software. I also see how long it takes to do things in the MCP compared to software and to me that's not good for me. The software has more capability and flexibility with the MPC in controller mode. So I'm using the MPC in controller mode it's better for me that way. I'm thinking Akai realizes the MPCs need to catch up with the digital world too. I was caught up in the hype of an MPC. So now I'm not really that impressed with it. But I'm still going to use it anyway. Just So I can have and add on to my beat-making as a controller just to use some form of hardware.

    • @labandlegacy
      @labandlegacy  Před rokem

      You might be surprised how much fun you have if you ever take a week and use it by itself on vacation or something. I use controller mode 90% of the time, but I really enjoy standalone too for how creative it makes me get with less options. It still has a LOT of options, but it’s incredible how creative it can be when you learn how to really flip the effects.

I figured out how to connect them to Reaper, but did not understand how to connect MPC Beats. MPC Beats looks like a DAW with a number of benefits for beginner composers, such as composing chords at the touch of a button. However, if it's not possible to include libraries into it, that makes it unusable for my needs. I write music for my films.

    I was introduced to the ecosystem with MPC Beats last year and not it's my go to . Been looking at the One or the touch but I think I may attempt to use the software with an actual PC touchscreen and my MPC Studio. (would that equal an MPC X hybrid. LOL). You brought a lot of new info to the surface for me today.Thanks for the video.

      @labandlegacy  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s a super powerful setup. You can get most of the full experience as the One, except for the touch screen on the unit which is a lot of fun to automate and kinda adds something very unique to expression. I’m also not sure if you can warp multiple pads simultaneously without the touch screen. I haven’t been able to find a way to do it.

      The Software allows higher sample rates so you can get a more detailed sound of you're into that. That what I use, the 24/48khz settings in the software. They both hit though, lol

      @@labandlegacy Do you know if the MPC studio Mk2 can output individual drum pads to separate DAW mixer channels when used as a plug in? This would allow mixing within the DAW and send individual drums out the audio I/O to an analogue mixer for mixing and monitoring. I am hoping to do this without having to print and commit to audio tracks.
      I use MOTU Digital Performer.

    • @labandlegacy
      @labandlegacy  Před 2 lety

      @@labandlegacy I have emailed akaipro tech support with this question. I can leave the conclusion here. If it turns out you can't output individual drums to a DAW mixer, can you set the mixer channels within the MPC software to output to the selected audio interface individual outputs for analogue mixing?

  • @nzreggae2534

    Already own a 60mk2 and a 5000. I like 960ppqn and quantise strength on the 5000. Non destructive would be better.
    Just bought the MPC studio mk2 because my 5000 has an issue that needs to be fixed. And for the price I can test out a computer based MPCish tool. I was ADAT light piping the 5000 through a MOTU 24I/O to mix digitally.
    The MPC studio Mk2 has the sound already in the box.
    I am hoping I can output individual drums when using the MPC studio Ml2 as a plug in into the MOTU Digital Performer mixer and send each drum out my audio I/O into an analogue mixer for mixing.
    This thing is very portable. If I can have a MIDI keyboard triggering a virtual instrument with MOTU DP at the same time as using the MPC studio Mk2 then I see a live jamming scenario becoming possible. Build up some patterns and use the next seq feature to live switch patterns along with musicians jamming.
    Can the MPC studio Mk2 output individual drums to separate mixer channels within a DAW?
    After I read the whole manual and master this thing, I am guessing it may become my primary tool for drum production. Or I may use the 5000.

    Hi, I've sold my MPC Studio because I would like to upgrade to MPC Touch or MPC Live mk1.
    I'm really thinking about the MPC Live because I can just do music wherever I want with the battery and 1tb SSD expansion.
    What is not really clear for me is: Can I open the MPC software and MPC Live at the same time and as I save the project it will be saved in my MPC Live internal HD? My computer screen would act just as a 27" screen for the MPC?
    In my setup I would like to use the Mac IAC driver to send 2 midi out x 16 midi channels and receive midi on Ableton Live where I would have 32 channels of VSTs (Live will be my Rompler and MPC my sequencer) and route audio from Live output to MPC input, so I can have the best of all the worlds.

  • @allieboy181
    @allieboy181 Před 3 lety +17

    I’m surprised people don’t just buy the software instead of the mpc? It’s only $200 and if you get the mpd or anther controller with 16 pads. You basically have an mpc for your pc. With the advantage of using any plugin and vst. A lot cheaper too Lol

    • @labandlegacy
      @labandlegacy  Před 3 lety +7

      The integration just isn't as tight as if you get a MPC. The MPC Studio is great though, and the Touch was a really good deal because you get the Software and the full MPC experience for around $400, but getting the screen working properly is hit or miss. I love mine though, I use it for about 90% of my videos and use the Live 2 only in standalone to travel.

      Each pad has a filter, and quite a few Air effects are combinations, such as the channel strip. I think it has a lot of options to sculpt your sound, although I would like a visual graphic EQ instead of an old school 4 band. Most people are mixing in a DAW regardless so for quick and dirty mixes I think the stock stuff is fairly capable.

    Cause eben i Look at the Mixer in your Video IT IS showing Mode than Just eight Channels
    Its a Bit confusing cause the Informations for that is Not precise or Lets say different
    6month ago IT was Not possible to Use the software on the mpcone
