For a comedy the casting was perfect. Was out the year I was born 1984. Have watched all the movies and love em all. GW Bailey as harris is excellent. The movies he is not in you would miss him. The rest of the cast were 10/10.
Another fun fact, Bailey and Guttenberg were also in Short Circuit together, both of them fighting, arguing and at odds with each other just like in PA. Bailey was also a hot tempered prick in SC, typical hard ass officer/commander type 😅
RIP Bubba Smith, Marion Ramsey, George Gaynes, David Graf, George R. Robertson, Andrew Rubin, and Art Metrano. You all will always be remembered and are missed.
Police Academy was one of the stupidest series ever released in movie history, but it still worked, never boring and entertaining it always worked! Rest in peace to all those fine actors that made it!
It's one of the funniest films I watched as a teenager even my dad laughed at it and he was in his late 70s with a dry sense of humour he was giggling away it was comady gold. Unfortunately they made to many but the first one was brilliant 👏👌🏻
This movie and its follow-ups did more to tear down the Iron Curtain than the entire space weapons program. In Eastern Europe, whoever had a VHS player also had a bootleg Police Academy tape.
Holy shit! Where are these from? I had no idea there were any interviews or documentaries on the films. I was a massive Police Academy fan growing up, and I watched them all again recently, so this is like finding gold! So nice to see that they are all really friendly with each other, and what a delight seeing lovely George Gaines and Bubba Smith.
I watch it from time to time and I always have a great time and mention great actors those who are alive and those who have already passed away, I will always miss these actors in such films. I warmly greet the creators of the film because they did something beyond time
G.W. Bailey has done such a great and hilarious job of playing grumpy and annoyed people, especially ones in authority. I don’t think he’s ever received the recognition he’s deserved. Yes, the Police Academy movies were very stupid and juvenile, but quite a few movies in the 80’s were like that and it worked unless uptight movie critics like Siskel and Ebert criticized them.
Ever notice the first one, and parts 3 and 4 look totally Toronto, but the second one was obviously L.A.? I know geography wasn’t a high point in the series and anonymity of the setting, but there’s a huge difference with those cities.
I never saw anything past Part 4. All I remember was Harris returned instead of Mauser and was even goofier and more hilarious than the first one. Mauser was good, but too New Yorkish
GW Bailey was a perfect choice for Harris. He’s such a cool dude to play a character who’s not really a villain, he’s more like a neutral.
Agreed. Loved Captain Harris. He was also funny in Burglar and Mannequin.
@@georgepapoulias3562 great movies
"I can show a movie on your butt, Fatso!"
What a line!
I love the chemistry he and Steve had
GW Bailey : "MOVE IT, MOVE IT, MOVE IT.. !!!" 😂
Couldn't of got a more perfect cast than this.
Couldn't of been better.
Love them all.
What a great actor G.W Bailey was
Still is

@@frankskinner867I remember ;-)
George Gaynes was every bit as a comedy giant as Leslie Nielsen. Change my mind.
He did better as Punky Brewster’s grumpy elderly dad than anything else!
08:26 "I can't quit." "Of course you can! Many many wonderful people have quit many many times"
Brilliance. 🤣🤣
Damn, i didn't know about this documental, I'll watch it now, i love Police Academy so much dude ❤

I just met G.W. Bailey today
Cpt/Lt. Harris is one of the best characters of the entire series.
Probably my favorite one in the entire franchise.
I have to be honest, Harris was way better than Mouser
@@johnkennethwiseman5460 lol…he was funny too😂 him getting his hands glued to his head cracks me up every time I watch part 2.
@@johnkennethwiseman5460he was. Mauser was more New Yorkish andnhad an attitude. Harris was a lot more likable

To This day police academy and the series still as today a great comdey adventures
Steve Guttenberg is 1 of my favorites
He really was the best, but sadly we never found out why he left after the 4th film.
This movie and its follow-ups did more to tear down the Iron Curtain than the entire space weapons program. In Eastern Europe, whoever had a VHS player also had a bootleg Police Academy tape.
I love George Gaynes in this movie, before that I only knew him as Uncle Henry on Punky Brewster.
Love GW Bailey!

People like Bubba great black actor never complained did his job and was amazing at it. Missed

I'd like to know when this documentary was produced?
All are
legends

The first 4 were great and should have ended there but the final 3 were horrible.

Yep exactly but they went all downhill once Steve Guttenberg left the franchise.
4:20 He was never bad or mean. He was just too close to Callahan.
out of the 7 , there is only 1 bad one: part 7. i kant stand it .
There was a 7?
Part 6 and 7 were average and bad..
Is High Towers hair painted on in this video?
Es war einer der wunderbarsten Filme. Vielen Dank an alle, die an diesem Film mitgewirkt haben, Police Academy🫶🏻
