Didn't they try a Kids' WB primetime special?
They did some specials. There was one for the world premiere of Superman: The Animated Series, another for World’s Finest aka The Batman Superman Movie, I think the series premiere of Men In Black: The Series, the series premiere of Batman Beyond as an hour long event in January 1999 and a special for the world premiere of Pokemon The Movie 2000 with a special concert event. There may have been more, but those are the ones I can remember.
For some reason, we never got Pokemon episodes in primetime. It makes me think maybe it’s hard with affiliates to get that stuff cleared which is sad. There were a few episodes of Pokemon that could’ve worked very well in primetime like Meowth Rules! That mainly took place at night and could’ve worked.
They may have done a Friday night launch party for when Kids’ WB! launched in 1995 but unless you had a local WB Station, it didn’t air until the following Saturday or Sunday after the premiere of the Kids’ WB! lineup.
Btw, the primetime premieres for Superman: The Animated Series, World’s Finest and Men In Black aired on Friday nights so some of them didn’t air until the Saturday or Sunday afterwards just like the Kids’ WB! lineup premiere special.
