The almost smallest Turntable in the World? The SC1000!

some (sloppy) cuts with the sc1000, the slightly bigger brother of the very small sc500 by portablismgear. still not sure which one i like more; they are both unique.
but i have to say: it’s really sad that the sc1000 does not have a random function like the sc500.
so if you like to random-skip through your samples or beats, better get the sc500. besides this, they are functionally the same. i am a bit more accustomed to the sc500; i got the sc1000 relatively recently, so i just have to practice with it more to get a better feel. but i love them all - it’s just a joy to be able to scratch everywhere without having to carry a more or less huge (portable) normal-sized turntable like the numark pt01 or the reloop spin.

Sehr nice! Was meinst du mit random function bei dem sc500? Ich hab das ding schon seit Jahren aber davon hab ich noch nie was gehört haha.

die geräte haben verschiedene tastenkombinationen um z.B zu recorden oder die samples oder beats random durchzuspielen - ich habe bei mir immer so ~150-250 beats und noch mehr samples drauf, ich mag es _sehr_ da einfach random durchzuballern ohne mühsam von track 1 bis track 122 durchklicken zu müssen - selbiges gilt natürlich auch für die samples.

that is unfortunately a really difficult question, which i will try to answer in my next video, where i compare the sc500, the sc1000, and two portable turntables, the numark pt01 and the reloop spin. the terrible answer: it depends :-) everything has its pros and cons. in terms of pure playing feel and accuracy, nothing currently beats a portable turntable with real vinyl. since the disc on the sc doesn't spin, it's pretty much a blind flight; you play more by ear than by having a reference on the record. it works, but when compared: the visual aid is definitely useful.
but when it comes to portability: the sc’s are a dream. they are super light and great for transport. a significant difference between the two sc’s, in my opinion, is that the sc1000 does not have a random playback function, which i find very unfortunate! i always have a lot of beats and samples on my stick, usually 150-200 each, and if i want to use a beat or sample from "way back," i have to click through all the sounds on the sc1000, which is very tedious. that's why i try to keep as few as possible on it because it’s annoying to click around so much. the sc500 has a great random function, so i like to be surprised by which beat comes up and use the random function to find an interesting sample - this has often resulted in interesting combinations, which i love!
other than that: if you want something "bigger," get the sc1000; if you want it as small and mini as possible, get the sc500. my carrying case for the sc1000 is significantly larger than the one for my sc500, for which there are great cases, e.g., on amazon - all of this will be covered in my video :-) i hope i can get to it soon; there's a lot going on right now... i wish you all the best!
