I have never been so happy to roll dice against Tomb Kings once more! I played my very good friend Tim in an age old clash of The Empire of Man v Tomb Kings of Khemri, just like the old days, except we got to play with the new rules for The Old World(cheers @officialwarhammer ) We had a great time trying to figure out the changes to the rules, reminiscing about old games and although there was a few technical difficulties, I think this video at least shows that The Old World is a ton of fun to play!
Please let us know what rules we got wrong(there were quite a few that we worked out while talking about the game afterwards) and bear with the non professional editing as well! If there's any improvements you'd like for future battle report, please drop them below as well! We are planning to bring you a lot more battle reports this year so any constructive comments for improving would be great! If there's any specific battles you want to see, let us know. We will be playing the PDF only armies in The Old World as well to see how they match up!

Great quality on the battle report. I am not entirely sure , but it looks a lot like at the 6:36 time stamp, that the steam tank has the majority of its base in the front arch of the chariots. In that case it would only be able to hit a single chariot as per the second to last bullet point of the "4. Determine Hits" of the cannon rules. The regular cannon definitely cannot hit two. I adore the Turk "that's what you get when you mess with the warrior" reference :D
Yes indeed. You are correct.
I think cannon got 360 line of sight, you can rotate it to shoot chariot flank. This is not a charge where you have to see enemy ark. Its cannon ark to watch!
@@tizianomerello6530 it got clarified that the cannon of the steam tank has only his frontal arc as view arc

Quick note about the magic, you need to beat the casting value of the casting player in order to dispel. If you roll equal to his casting value, you don't dispel. Don't know if it changes the game as I am watching the whole video atm, but it could change things for sure!

great to see a batrep with people just having a good time. couple points for the cannon. Yes war machines can pivot and shoot as long as they don't move in the movement phase. Also cannons if firing in the front arc of a unit can only hit 1 model per rank (if shooting flank1 per file) so when shooting those chariots would have a max of 1 hit.

Great video, I have something to nitpick tho:
Flaming attacks don't remove Regeneration by default like it was in old Fantasy, you need a version of flammable like Dry as Dust aswell to get rid of Regeneration.

Also, the +1 str from the Cav spears on the cheriots does not instantly give -1 AP. Those stats are indipendent of each other

Add combat resolution to 2d6 for a break check. CR doesn't modify your leadership. If the natural roll AND CR modified roll are under your modified Ld (from non-CR sources, like Inspiring Presence or Warband), you give ground. If the natural roll is less than your leadership but the modified roll is higher, you fall back in good order. If your natural roll is higher than modified Ld you break and flee.
The exception is you break instead of fall back if you roll FBIGO but have half the unit strength of your opponent.
This is how they modeled "steadfast" type mechanics in TOW, and why combo charges and spells modifying Ld are so strong.

Those Tomb Kings chariots did great work. I'm looking at the Orcs & Goblins battalion box, and its two boar chariots, with even more interest.
44x60 board so the new standard size for 40K and AOS.

If you were in the front arc of the chariots when shooting the canon, you can only hit one :)
cannons are not bolt throwers, it doesnt matter the line of files, it is just a straight line hitting anything in its path

@rafparis2 actually, reading the rules again, i thinkyou were right, in the new rules it says "...it can hit a maximum of: One model per rank/file, if the cannon lies in the unit´s front/flank arc." So my bad, that was in older versions, in OldWorld it is just as you said.
Great battle report! Do you think the bigger base sizes are making the standard table too small? Every old world bat rep I’ve seen has the entire length of the board filled with units. It looks cool but it looks like it limits manoeuvrability a bit.
I haven’t felt that way yet. We want to play goblins on skaven soon to figure out if it is having an effect. But rite now I see it only as a positive.

@@MediocreHobbies It's a game between two friends, not a tournament so I think it'll be fine 😉. But a very important thing that you may not have noticed is that you can now have bomb pigeons on your Steam Tank for only 20 points 😅

I would never call a WFB a game where You out manoeuvre anything as the game in general is very, very static but I agree about chip damage being a thing.
You mite be playing it wrong. The two most important parts of warhammer fantasy is movement and Psychology. And of course chip damage.
@@MediocreHobbies I found WFB a very static game based around "I got ya!" moments rather than a strategy based around movement. I agree that Ld tests are a big part of it as well.

They just there to pink off a few wounds and remove ranks.

Question: the way you were pre-measuring your cannon shots, saying “10 inches from the back of that unit’s base”… is that legal? Last time I played was 6th edition and the way I remember it, you had to guess a number of inches forward off the front of the barrel and hope for the best. If you can just perfectly pre-measure 10” from your desired end point every time, that makes it ludicrously easy to shoot cannons. I know a lot has changed but that was a bit of a surprise.
Question aside, that was a really fun battle to watch. Two fully painted armies with a nice table to fight across. Very fun. You need a 4x6… or 4x8! ;-)

I believe premeasure is very much in the game.
It wasn't and it would have been ultra stupid if they had removed it.

Also, you cannot shoot from multiple ranks anymore. If your handgunners are placed in ranks of 5, only the front 5 can shoot.
