Welcome to my channel and thank you for taking the time to view this video.
I would like to thank the fabulous RC Elf for donating this great model to my channel and personal collection. A personal big thank you from me, I really appreciate the support and generous gift.
This is the unboxing of Tamiya's replication of the legendary Mercedes-Benz G Class. Mercedes-Benz's answer to the all terrain market place, but with luxury. Typically The G Class is kitted out with a whole raft of interior luxury, coupled with technology that rivals all of Mercedes-Benz's competitors. The typical asking price from new, starts in excess of £100k, a machine with it's design philosophy dating back 40+ years. Just take a look at Mercedes-Benz's website for the luxury, technology, safety and capabilities of this great luxury 4 x 4 SUV vehicle.
Now, I'm in no way in a position to ever own a real life Mercedes-Benz G Class, but I have the next best thing, this great Tamiya CC-02 model replicating this great vehicle in 1/10 scale detail. I'm excited to have this model in my collection.

That is one hard working Elf, his blessings of kindness and RC is a unbelievable story, can you imagine in generations to come this story still being told! He is a living legend in my mind! Hi Mike, certainly right about the RC Elf, I’m so lucky to be a small part of his legacy. The G Wagen is just about finished now. I’ve enjoyed every minute of the build and creation. Hi Peter, I hope you’re keeping well. Thank you for watching my video. Oh yes, I did have my eye on the CC-01 Land Rover at one stage, but as I was trying to save up ( hah hmmm.. get a pink ticket from the wife too😁) the CC-02 G500 was launched, so that went to the top of the list instead. (Still trying to get a pink ticket at this stage), then we’ll, the next rest is history, that legend, RC Elf wrote to me and well….I’m such a lucky man! I’ve been doing the bodywork first on this one, that way the paint fully cures, by the time I get the chassis built up. Take care, keep well and all the best to you and the family. 😊😉

Hi there, I hope you’re keeping well. Thank you for watching my video. Yes, I’ve been very lucky to have been able to have one of these great Tamiya’s. I’ve concentrated on the main body first on this one, before turning my attention to the chassis. Really looking forward to building and running this great kit. To think the real vehicle is £100k+ wow! I have purchased bearings, other than that, it will be completely standard. Take care, keep safe and well and all the best to you and the family 😁😉😉😊

Hi Steve, that RC Elf is truly a legend! I am over the moon! I was wishing for this great upgrade of the CC chassis for a while, and RC Elf has made it happen. I’m really enjoying the build, it’s got some connection too, my wife is a receptionist for our local Mercedes-Benz dealership, so, I hoping to show the guys and girls there, what Tamiya have re-created, never know, they might sell the kits as an accessory! That's a wonderful kit, John! Good old RC Elf strikes again, what a Saint! This kit is packed full of goodies, but amazing that at that price you still need to buy the bearings as extras! I've been looking at this chassis myself, if it was a tad cheaper, I'd have one already! Love the look of the Unimog version, too. Best to you and your family, John, take care! :O)
Hi Mark, hope you’re keeping well. The legend known as RC Elf has truly looked after me! The kit includes the light unit for front and rear LED’s. I too had my eye on this kit ever since it’s launch. I’m sooo lucky! The Unimog version looks cool too. 😎. Oh yes, I got the full bearing set too, they were an extra £23, but hey hum! I’ve been doing the body painting first, because of the milder weather😉. I’m getting there with the chassis, so far, the usual excellent Tamiya manuals, they’re really very good. Hi Paul, thank you for viewing my introduction video. This is a special kit, I’ve been interested in this kit, ever since the launch. My wife works for our local Mercedes-Benz dealership, so surrounded by those lovely vehicles, but never able to afford one. So I’ve the nearest thing ever to having G series🤩😁. I’m just on the bodywork now, it’s been a great kit, easy to build. Take care, keep saf3 and well. 😊😉

Tamiya are starting to put some more body styles on this capable chassis, like the Mercedes-Benz Unimog and the Land Rover Defender. You’ll certainly will not be disappointed with the model. WOW! So happy for you John! You got the gorgeous Tamiya Mercedes from the most generous RC-Elf!! Such a thrilling gift! It’s sparkling like diamonds and will be the quality of one when you are finished! One of my part-time jobs, I am one of the caregivers for a wealthy lady and we get to drive her around in her Mercedes! That was the first time I had ever been in one, let alone drive one. 😁Amazing car! It does so many things, I just know the basics. Safest car on the road. Love driving it!

Hi Christine, hope you’re keeping well. Oh yes, the Mercedes-Benz vehicles are certainly quality vehicles. My wife works at our local Mercedes-Benz dealership, though we do not have one, got put off with the servicing costs😉. I’m building away the G500 and nearly finishing the model, absolutely awesome kit. That RC Elf, he’s a legend. 😉😊😁take care, keep safe and well.

@@4cmjohn8 Hi Christine, hope you’re keeping well. Oh yes, once you get stuck in to the build, you get so absorbed, before you know it, your at the bodywork stage😊😉. I have actually finished the model, except for putting an interior cover so it hides the electrics, and I adding a driver in there, for distance viewing only (so not an actual interior like I did on my Range Rover). Other than that, the G500 is ready to run! Enjoyed every minute of the build and just in typical Tamiya fashion, the manual is great to follow. You’re going to really enjoy your Lunchbox build😊. We did have a Mercedes-Benz A180 at one stage, my wife does get discount on the cars and servicing, but my wife found the car too technical, so we’ve gone back to an Audi. @@4cmjohn8 hi Christine, I promise, the Tamiya’s are really good kits to build and the manuals are really good at taking you step by step through the building of the model. You’ll get into your build of the CW-01 Chassis (Lunchbox) and before you know it, you’ll be at the last step of the build and onto the bodywork, bringing the great Lunchbox to life. Hiya John. Wow what a kit. Hoorah for the Elf! I did see Derek's video of his Unimog CC-02 and it really does look like a great build. Now you kept promising to sniff the tyres but it never happened, at least not on the video. Did you want a bit of a private moment with the tyres ;-) Anyway, what a lucky boy you are.
