Thank you. I used willow to make harvest baskets when I accidentally became caretaker of 30 ancient apple trees. I used a book on Basketry from the UK to learn how to treat the willow. The baskets lasted 20 years in heavy use with small repairs. Thank you so much for this show. The best!

There is a long tradition in my region for young people to make oak baskets to make extra money for their family. Specifically, they made mostly “egg baskets” that would have been sold where eggs were sold in small local markets. Plastic bags in landfills. Who is more advanced?
Gorgeous. This is the kind of stuff folks don't realize they killed off when they voted for all manner of laws and regulations and taxes. You think you're doing good, but in reality, it's making things harder for the small businesses because it drives their costs up.... and customers get mighty scarce at a point! I keep thinking about growing some willow for basketry. Between tending the homestead and forging the iron, I just don't know that I have the time to learn yet another thing. Of course, I might just grow the willow so there's some available for local basket weavers.
Thankfully times are changing ans more and more people are slowly rejecting mass consumerism for more localised and handmade items. Sincerely appreciate you watching and i'd say go ahead and plant that Willow bed :) ~Peace~

Love the video. My mother had a basket when I was a kid, she used it for everything, shopping etc. Bought back lovely memories.
