Awesome review. I’m running three Tactacam reveals with the solar panel and I’m at 9 months and still at a hundred percent battery life. Great cams. I also switched from spy point.
I’ve got solar panels from my spypoints. Gonna use them, just need an adapter for the power cable.
Excellent video, even better than Tactacam's official tutorial. I had problems setting up my first Reveal X. 2.0 The Wifi wouldn't connect with my phone even though the phone accepted it. Some people are having problems with the startup feature. Great video that you showed what the setup looks like on the phone.

Wow! This was an amazing review video! I'm not sure what you do for a living, but you do have excellent presentation skills and superb camera presence! This was without a doubt the best Tactacam review I've seen! I've been on the fence Bill on whether or not to go wireless WiFI, and was going to postpone this decision till next year. I'm sure I'll be over to my local BPS store to pickup at least one soon. My biggest fear was that even on private land we've had trail cameras stolen, and we use bear proof styled locking steel boxes. Not sure you can get them for these new models. I guess maybe the thief would know that his picture is being live streamed while he's in the act of thievery.
hi Ron! thanks for the kind words! unfortunately theft is a BIG problem, but i think that some of the tactacam cameras have a GPS feature in them so if they are stolen, you can track them down

Great and extensive review. The only thing I would add is invest in a good external rechargeable 12 volt battery for these cameras. I have one on my Reveal X and it lasts for several months of heavy use before it needs recharging.
Definitely! I’ve used them on my spypoints, I just need to get the adapter to fit into the Tactacam. I don’t have that adapter yet so I didn’t want to talk much about it in the video

Great review! I was so glad that you touched on the WiFi function when setting up the camera's view.
I would like to find out if I can use the WiFi at close range while the cellular function is on (e.g. from a house, hunting shack, or tree stand within WiFi range.
You have to put the camera in setup mode first by changing the switch to “setup”.
You can’t just be near the camera and connect to Wi-Fi
@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors , so if I have it in Setup and close the cover, I could watch through my phone from a distance? Do you know how far away?
@@dgrasser Not positive, but im going to assume you have to be pretty close, since that's not what the connectivity was made for.

Ooh rah devil! Hey so do I get the plan then go through all the steps in your video. All I’ve done is download the app and create an account. Also, I have two cameras will go monthly how do I add the other camera to the service? Semper Fi!
Very good overview. Thanks. Verizon and AT&T SIM cards, but what if you don't have those carriers in the region? In QC, we mostly have Rogers, Telus, Virgin and Bell.
If ATT and Verizon cell phones get a signal there, then i believe they would work. BUT dont take my word for it becuase im not positive. Best thing to do is to join a Reveal Trail camera user group on Facebook and ask that question there. Tactacam has employees monitor and respond in those groups. Thanks for watching! I just bought two of these cameras. Unsure of what plan i should buy. Either intermediate or unlimited. I know you said feeders for unlimited, but i'm concerned with getting too small of a plan. These are my first two cameras i've ever used. Also, if i buy unlimited and use it for 6 months and suspend it, do i still get the other 6 months when i reconnect or do i get prorated? Thanks!
you can always get a month-month plan and increase if necessary. also the amount of pictures you get can be adjusted by the delay settings on the camera. Thanks for watching!

One question: when you take your camera out of the woods during a mid season, do you need to cancel your pay plan or suspend it-other words how I can avoid paying during my camera “vacation “?

Thank you so much! Please check with Tactacam, but I believe if you will take it out of the woods for longer than a month, you can suspend the camera. But I’m not absolutely positive.

Great video man, but I’m surprised your camera worked with that SD card, I bought de SD SanDisk Extreme Plus 32 gb , U3, 10. And after 3 calls to costumer service they told me that my camera wasn’t working cause it only works with the SD Extreme Pro.
The testing picture was working but nothing else, no pictures activated by the sensor. Now I’m waiting for the SD pro te arrive.
I noticed when setting it up, I clicked on that card by accident and it said “not compatible”….. no idea why. It’s the same class and speed.

How would I figure out which cell provider has the best signal in the area I plan to put it? Can you try one and if it don't have a strong signal replace it with the other?
look at the coverage maps for the provide and talk with your friends that have different cell phones. both companies are pretty good. BUT, do note that once you pick one and set up your camera with it, you can not swap them out! good news is, the 2.0 has a better working antenna than the previous versions. you will probably be good with either one. thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video! please subscribe too!
The only question I have is... can you switch plans if you run out of pictures after you already have it in the woods?
yes you can. you can control the plan from your phone or computer, and dont need the camera. also, keep in mind that all your cameras share the pictures. so if you buy the basic plan that is 250 pics per month, and one camera takes 150, the other can take 350. they share the plan. thanks for watching!
At 14:27 the app says “format sd card” should I do that? I noticed you went over that screen..
i always format my card BEFORE i put it in the camera. you can do it before you put it in, or with the APP. just make sure you do it
Do the gen 2.0's check in every 12 hours? I have one I just got out and it is only sending a check in picture every 24 hours. Could this be due to weak signal?
i could be due to a weak signal, or also your settings. Set your "Send Type" setting to "Twice/ 24 Hours".
Question not touched on. The data plans address pictures; What about video? And, do videos get transferred to the phone?
The data plans are for pics only. Regular data plan, pics will get sent to your phone, and videos will get stored on the SD card.
You can choose to have videos sent to your phone for $5 per 50 videos. (You select the videos you want to get sent as you go)., or, there is a plan for $9 per month for for unlimited videos. You select which ones you want sent, and it will send the video next camera check in.
(The $9 per month covers ALL cameras you have)
Is it that simple? Do I have to sign the camera up for its own cell service or something? I have Verizon for my phone
it really IS that simple. you can use either att or verizon. your cell phone carrier has nothing to do with whichever carrier you use for the camera. pick the one that will have the best signal where you are going to place the camera. thanks for watching! be sure to subscribe please.

Great question!
With the original Reveal X, you purchased either a Verizon or ATT version camera.
With this new Reveal X 2.0, the camera comes with both Verizon and ATT SIM cards. Whichever carrier has better coverage in your area, you use that SIM card, it inserts in the camera just like a SD card before you turn it on.
You don’t have to contact the cell companies, everything is done through the Tactacam app
What if I am using it in a South American country that does not have AT&T or Verizon will the camera accept any other sim.
Hey bud when it sends the video how do you watch it it shows the HD video logo bottom right of the picture but I don’t see how to watch it
When you go into the app, at the bottom, just to the right of the home button, is the button to access the Gallery. Click that. It will take you into the gallery and you will see videos up at the top. Click on that, and there are your videos. Hope that helps!
Will T-Mobile phones work with tactacam ? If so, which SIM card should I be using ?
your phone service has nothing to do with your camera. choose the sim card that will get the best signal where you are going to put the camera. i use ATT with all 9 of my cameras
I know I’m late to the party but just picked up a brand new one for $60. I currently am running just one wild game trail camera that I got for $13 obviously not the best one really only works with video. Also I hunt public land 😢 so I am not trying to lose a lot of money.

I saw a warning that it might take 24 hours to change the settings. Is that only via cell? Is it immediate if you're connected via Wifi?
It all depends on how often you set your camera to check in. yes, it can take up to 24 hours to update.
It all depends on what you’ve got your initial setting set to. But yes, it can take until the next cameras check in.
Spypoint Flex-G36 are also not any good. I've been using them for a year and they hardly work and when they do it's very inconsistent results. I'm going to try these Tactacam Reveal's now. We shall see
As a former spypoint owner, I’ll tell you this; you will buy your first Tactacam, and within a year, you will have a bunch of them! lol.
They are great cameras, and their customer service is top notch.

Whats the difference between cell cam and trail cam?
the terms are used interchangeably, HOWEVER when people say "Cell Cam" , it is referring to a type of trail camera that will automatically transmit the photos to an app on your call phone. Regular "Trail Cams" do not do this and you have to go to the camera and remove the memory card to view to pictures

The advertisement for this cam is misleading. It says it's supposed to send texts, but it does not. It only sends messages thought the app. For me, it would be nice to not have to stay connected to the web just to receive pics. I wanted pics sent through real text, e.g. cellular connection.
I don’t think there is ANY camera that will actually text you a picture. The camera sends them to tactacams servers, then you get a notification that there is a pic and you open their app and the pic is there. I’ve used spypoint, Bushnell, and Tactacam. All 3 companies do the exact same thing

I easily use five trail cams because I can’t hunt in my yard anymore due to a development being built next-door

These WILL NOT send videos to your phone. Only the XB/SK models supports sending video requests. They only send still pics.
You are incorrect. The new Reveal X 2.0 will send video to your phone. If you want to message me on Facebook, I will send you a video recording of my phone that shows you where to find the videos in your Reveal App. I can’t upload the video in the comments section here.
All these cell cams have issues. With the SpyPoint’s if you keep up with the firmware updates, they are just as good as any of them
I would beg to differ. I’ve had nothing but problems with spypoints. I’ve got 12 of them and been using them for 4 years. Always update firmware, and format card….. and they just stop working.

If you don't like hearing SD cards are an issue, I'm not sure you will like Tactacam. They are about the most finicky cameras on SD cards.
Mine Verizon Gen1 Reveal X had/are having issues but do take great pics and have a great app. Good luck this season!
As long as you use the recommended card, and format it first, there shouldn’t be problems.
Spypoint was horrible because one day it would work, next day it wouldn’t, and they always said the “sd card was corrupted”.
So far, my reveals blow Spypoint out of the water

Had one with solar built in and had it fully replaced 3 times in 6mo period so won’t be getting spy point again
I will tell you this everyone of these reviews are paid off because they are all lieing. First you pay for the highest pro pro program and then they keep wanting you to upgrade. BUT THE BIGGEST is they say you can take videos and shows these videos but you cant even pay extra for a video when motion sensor goes off you can only get a video by requesting one when there's no animal not when animal walks through. You have to request a video they charge you but it takes not when sensor goes off. So its worthless for animal control trappers which they heavily advertise on page because you cant watch animal go into trap and max video is like 20 seconds ridiculous these dudes are serious liars and getting paid everyone of them and all reviews and this will be taken down.
i wish i got paid to do this stuff. trust me, i even bought the camera myself. i now have 10 tactacams and i love them. if you dont like the cameras, then dont buy them, but dont leave me a comment complaining about the cameras features and benefits, because im a user, not the manufacturer. if you dont like them, buy something else. idgaf
