    Thanks for the tear down video,you look comfortable disassembling and putting parts in different piles. Your experience level is obviously of someone who has done this many times. Thanks again

    I enjoyed the video, the guy for sure knows his way around a 5r. As far as the shop being dirty its old and I'm sure a lot of work gets sent out of it. I own a shop though we don't build transmissions yet it's gets dirty, but our work is clean. Keep up the good work.

    is Darth Vader hiding behind the bench? The breathing is creeping me out. On a more serious note, that rear planet needs to be updated. Never put that old planet back in the unit, otherwise you are creating a bomb that could explode at any moment. Ford recalled every 5R110W back in the day replacing these things. You can probably still get the parts for free from the dealer if you have a good relationship with them. Good luck.

    I have a 2009 F350 with a 5R110W transmission. The truck was running a DashDaq programmer when I purchased it. When the transmission went, the shop blamed the high pressures it experienced due to the reprogramming of the transmission by the programmer. Now the transmission is down again and the same shop is blaming the programmer again which is now a H&S Mini Max. After replacing two stuck solenoids with no change, teardown revealed one of the pistons had pushed past the lock ring and fluid pressure was just going into the case vs activating the clutches. I might not be interpreting that exactly right. Anyway does this sound like a programmer issue or just a failed solenoid that allowed to much pressure to pass, even an improperly installed lock ring? Any thoughts?

The first spring cage just behind the pump had some scarring/ scratches. Puzzled as to what is might be the problem. Any input would be great. TY

    This guy is clearly familiar with this unit. However as being a long term GM dealer tech myself, I can't understand his method in disassembly. No fixture to hold unit off the bench, separating and placing parts all seemingly everywhere in a run down dirty shop. Hey whatever works I guess.

      No the 2003 doesn't have a 7.3l powerstroke. 7.3l ended in 2002. Ford will start the 7.3l again in 2020 but it'll be a gas engine.

    • @TheVenom8343
      @TheVenom8343 Před 7 lety +4

      UTGTYPE96sniper No sir, they have 6 forward gears although they only use 5 at a given time. When it's below a certain temperature it shifts 1-2-3-4-6, and when it's above that temperature it shifts 1-2-3-5-6

    • @Ruined6Seven
      @Ruined6Seven Před 7 lety +2

      john doe "...The TorqShift design in fact has six forward ratios, but only five are advertised, with the 'hidden' gear only used in extreme cold weather..." Therefore under normal circumstances 5 are only used. you complained about your 6th gear. so am I to assume that you were currently located in an extremely cold environment for such a problem to occur?
