Needing a permit to enter another country is the global norm. When was the last time you tried to board a flight without the country granting you a visa or an exemption to enter the country?
The fact that Egypt doesn't even offer permits is not shocking?
Well, the irony is that if Palestine had it's sovereignty, as it should have, children would need a hell lot more than a "permit". They would require a special medical visa to enter and exit. You just can't have it both ways. Either they become first class Israeli citizens, or they get sovereignty of their own. It's the lack of movement in either direction that is the problem here.
If I had a nickel for every time a mainstream journalist interrupted someone speaking truth about this conflict I would never have to work again in my life.

Furthermore, in Gaza the UN distributes emergency supplies, but they need the Israelis to allow them to distribute. No IDF personnel would be endangered by allowing, say, medical aid to get through to Gazans.

Nop cause people just want to acheive what is good for them with little to no regard for the other side. I mean the situation is that Israelis have come back to that land forcefully after a thousand years or so from which they were chased away. Meanehile Palestinians also lived there before and after. Israel is taking land and expanding constantly which made Palestinan resistence go to extreeme measures. Frankly U.S geopolitical interventions have directly caused this issue. Simmilar situation happend and is happening in Kosovo which U.S forcefully took from Serbia and gave it to the majority Albanians living there. I can count dozens of simmilar instances in which certain branch of U.S poltics basically intervenes creates a political or teritorial situation that would not happend naturally. Think of it this way, you put a lion and elephant into a small area while feeding only one and what do you think happens?
