    I love how Kelsey clarified that orgasm isn’t necessary in order to enjoy sex. It’s not easy for everyone to achieve it and the societal pressure that is put around the “importance” of reaching an orgasm every time you have sex makes it even harder.

    Kelsey has the type of sex positivity that we all need. Being so knowledgeable, enthusiastic but respecting boundaries about what others will talk about, and little mentions like respecting sexual "icks" when there's a good reason for them, or saying don't change anything if things are working for you. I have a whole new respect for this lady.

    Kelsey saying she knows within minutes of meeting people that she wants to sleep with someone was incredibly validating. From someone also raised in a religious environment where sex wasn't necessarily shamed, but definitely not talked about, and being queer is a sin. I've definitely come a long way in separating myself from that inherent shame, but hearing someone else experience that was so validating. ❤

    Kelsey's point about talking about sex is so crucial. Making it so it's not something people find shameful opens so many doors, whether it be improving pleasure or reducing assault, abuse, or grooming. , admittedly, am a bit more comfortable talking about these topics than others, since I spent a while teach sex ed programs. However, I find that talking about sex, at least generally, has made me someone my friends are willing to turn to when they have issues (I do avoid talking about specifics of my sex life with friends, but, that's purely because I want to protect the privacy of my partners, and don't want to share details they aren't comfortable with others knowing without their permission).

    A phrase I heard Trixie Mattel and Katya use (which I think applies to the Rainie debate on coming off bi) is, "you're not straight, you're just heterosexual." There's a difference between the two sometimes qhen it comes to how you act/present yourself.

    1) Kelsey calling Maggie "Moogie" was SO CUTE ;~; it warmed my lil hort
    2) I really like Kelsey's explanation about "can I kiss you?" versus "should we kiss?" I've asked other women the first question before but I really like how there's a "we" in the second question because it allows us both/all people to be further involved in the choice. In the future I might ask "can we kiss?" instead of should, but idk, I'm open to trying out both variations :)

    Listened to this already on apple podcasts but came to comment how much I enjoyed this ep and an advice question for Kelsey/fellow YCSWU listeners!!
    So, I am a bi women in a long term hetero relationship. I don’t bring up my sexuality unless asked or if it’s relevant to the conversation (this is what is most comfortable for me!). My problem: I’ve yet to tell my lesbian best friend of 6+ years. Back when I was even less comfortable being open about my sexuality, she really got into cracking jokes on our “straight”-lesbian friendship dynamic and I just sort of played along. It’s been so long now that I don’t know how to bring it up but I really want to be honest with her 😭 help???

    • @livvynolin9985
      @livvynolin9985 Před 9 měsíci +6

      I’m also a bi woman in a long term hetero relationship! I also don’t really bring up my sexuality unless the situation really calls for it. If I were in your position and wanted to tell a long time friend, I’d probably bring it up in a lighthearted moment and say something like “hey I know this may seem weird that I didn’t tell you a long time ago, but I’m actually bi and I’ve known I was for [x amount of time], I just don’t talk about it much. I hope you understand my reasoning for not saying something sooner and it doesn’t mean I didn’t feel like I could trust you, just that I didn’t know how to bring it up after all this time” and hopefully she’ll understand and maybe you guys can laugh about it! And if she reacts negatively, her feelings are not really your responsibility.

    • @TheShauNanigans
      @TheShauNanigans Před 9 měsíci +1

      Maybe you can bring it up as a question. As if you didn't realize you hadn't mentioned it before. "Did you not know I was bi? I'm so sorry. I thought I told you by now, but it also doesn't come up a lot in conversation, so I must not have realized you didn't know." Something to that effect. Then it is more the fact that you have been friends for so long that you thought she knew.
      As a person in a hetero relationship, I tell people I am pansexual all the time. 1) I want people of all genders/sexual orientations who are my friends to know that while it may not be obvious that I am on the LGBT spectrum, I am not only an ally, I am also part of the overall group they identify with. Being in hetero relationships does give us a greater privilege than someone LGBT+ who cannot hide their identities, but that does not mean we need to keep our identities to ourselves. 2) It should not feel like something you should not bring up in conversation. If you are nervous to bring it up in conversation, maybe the person you are talking to isn't worth your time. 3) The more visibility of people from all walks of life on the LGBT+ spectrum the better. Be out. Be proud. Millions of people fought for our right to do so. Make people who don't want us to exist nervous because they learn there are even more of us than they realize. Even people in hetero relationships committed for decades are people they could be fighting to take away their right to love who they want. There is strength in numbers. Be that strength. 4) Now you get to discuss who you think is hot together. Maybe you already did, anyway, but if that's the case it should have been fairly obvious you do not gender discriminate based on who you are attracted to or might sleep with if you weren't in a committed relationship.
      That's just my 50 cents.

    This was a great episode but the question about sexual attraction I kind of was scratching my head going "I think you're describing arousal?" (especially at the beginning talking about the physical part). This thing that I think is confusing for some of us on the ace spectrum is like okay, but what is attraction *to a person* like? Do you tend to literally be aroused when you see them? The second part was helpful, though, the idea of visualizing having sex with someone, I wonder if that's a common experience for allosexual people! I'm demi and sexual attraction is pretty rare, so like Maggie I need the emotional depth as a baseline, and then it seems pretty arbitrary whether a desire to touch bits or something comes up!

      Also, if anyone is feeling nervous about Kelsey freaking out about it taking 45 minutes, FYI it's not that unusual for it to take 2-3 hours, and there's nothing wrong with you if that's how it works for you! ❤

    Sometimes I wished I had experimented more being bi, but I never had the courage to pursue women. At the same time I'm happy I found my person who just happens to be a straight guy 😅

    8:12 I truly pride myself on being this person- flashbacks to when I was with my ex, on our way home from a date, and our friend called me freaking out because he had a toy get stuck during anal training 😭 since I was out with my ex I just had to explain to him in detail how to remove it over the phone. (Since he spent an hour attempting before he called and I'm sure someone else doesnt know, here's the instructions lol: you take a minute to relax because you're probably gorilla gripping it due to stress, lube your fingers up, work your fingers in alongside, and use them to cover whatever ridge or bump got stuck in order to pull it out! It may take time especially if you're not used to bigger sizes but your holes are extremely elastic, trust.) This is particularly funny because I need to work on asking for help myself so it only goes one way 😅 I gladly haven't had any genital situation I couldn't take care of myself.
