  • I recently got to spend a week with the refreshed 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 to try out the upgraded Intelligent Drive system. This is a partially automated driving system that lacks some capabilities of Cadillac's competing Super Cruise while offering others that the GM car lacks.

This is much more intelligent than other systems because it is using It's sensors, cameras, radars and computing and it does it all smoothly. Cadillacs require a database of detailed maps to do what it does. It is like a rule book whereas this is computing in real time.

In April 2022 I test drove a 2019 Mercedes best 560 and I’m sorry to say that I felt every bump crack and other imperfection on the road.
I don’t know what is the hype about its great suspension.
It honestly did not feel any different from my existing 2018 Toyota Camry, in terms of the smoothness of the ride on those road imperfections.

A CT6??? OMG...Totally different league. While the CT6 is a fine domestic mid luxury vehicle, it won't ever be compared professionally to the "super luxury" car segment. Perhaps an E class, but even then domestics just typically follow the germans with technology and safety features. I do give kudos to Cadillac for progress, but they have a lot of work to do to catch up with the big dogs such as the Merc S Class, the BMW 7, the Audi A8, and then just barely lower, but still above the Cadillac is the totally Lexus LS, which the backseat in particular is very reminiscent of the German's "chauffeur driven-like" cabins with luxury amenities oozing out of the wood and leather, and classic, but innovative interior. Lexus...being a baby compared to cadillac has made major leaps and bounds over domestics including Cadillac. It is somewhat sad that it has taken this many decades for Cadillacs to even be brought up in forums such as these, (relevant or not)...they made no progress for 10-30 years, while all over the world the other luxury brands were honing and perfecting their image and drive quality, and innovative tech and safety, and luxury amenities. No offense to present Cadillac owners or those that are very happy with the very nice updated and revamped brand, but the US still lacks UBER LUX! Maybe in a few more years. Who knows when, but for sure not quite yet. It takes years in this league to "better themselves" and get critiqued and strive for perfection, not a one year model makeover.
