    I love the sound of the trumpet and I'm having fun learning it but man it's temperamental

    Gee, I'm so glad this is the opposite for the bass trombone. I spend about 90% of my time in the mid-low-pedal register. Practical playing range of pedal just above double pedal b-flat up to 3rd space in the treble clef. FOr those counting, that's almost 5 octaves.

    Agree. The awesome trumpet teacher Pop McClaughlin taught that we should quickly warm up to playing G on top of staff, and from that point in every practice session make that G the ready point to hit at any time. Not middle G or middle C.
