  • In this video we are going to show you how to design and make your own sabiki rig step by step using cheap materials. You can use the sabiki rig you made to catch a variety of different fish species including pacific mackerel , jack mackerel, pacific sardine and smelt etc. It is really fun to make a sabiki rig. To be honest, sometimes your handmade sabiki rig might be even better than any other commercial available sabiki rig. Actually I learned this when I observed other anglers’ fishing from the pier, which strong inspired me to have a try.
Some materials we used in this video are listed below (Amazon):
    (1) AGOOL Bait holder Fishing Hooks Long Shank (size 4)
    (2) YZD Colorful Crystal Flash
    (3) Berkley Trilene Big Game Monofilament Custom Spool
    (4) Swivel (JSHANMEI 160pcs Fishing Accessories Kit)
    (5) Snap swivel (Drasry 100PCS Rolling Fishing Swivels Set)
    (6) JSHANMEI Fishing Bead (optional)
    (7) Red tape and nail polish (local 99 cent only store)
    (8) Tape/ruler and scissors

Thanks for the video. I always like to learn new ways of adding a branch line to an existing sabiki rig. This video did just that. Oh, and that backgrond music... well, everyone already stated it. lol.

    hi all
1st part is good but as you add the 2nd one you kill the line
you create a weak point in the line and the line will cut out

Great way to tie a Mackerel Trace but you forgot one major thing. Always moisten your knots before tightening up the knots. Do you know that when knots are tightened up it causes heat in the nylon. You can loose around 60% of the nylons original strength if you don't moisten your knots first.

You show the luminous beads, but never use them in the tie. Why? How would you use them?

    • @LAyangfamily

Hi, my friend, good question. Actually, I mentioned the beads are optional in this video description. Most commercial available sabiki rigs do have different colors of beads, some with same colors, some with alternative colors. These beads can glow in the water which can help attract fishes to bite the hook. I once talked about this in my another video posted on youtube (czcams.com/video/ApE2wVLPUdw/video.html). Actually, the feather and colorful tails on the sabiki rig all can flash in the water especially when you jig the fishing rod. Interestingly, based on my observation and practice, some fishes might be addicted to some specific colors, which means some specific colors on the sabiki rigs might be easier than some other colored sabiki rig to catch some specific fishes. So if I use beads I would use different color beads but not all the same colors on one sabiki rig. So these beads might be useful when you go fishing in the dark water or very early in the morning or in the evening. Hopefully this explanation is helpful for you to understand. Happy fishing!
