    Nice job, looks like no engine support bar needed.

    Nice job Sal! Great instructional video, like always. Like I mentioned before, it is especially helpful when you call out the sizes and the specific tools. I love that level of detail in your vids! You had to completely remove the steering rack for this job? Or, just lower it? How come? Was it in the way to access the mounts? I would have thought that the rack stuck with the chassis itself and wouldn't prevent you from raising/lowering the engine? Are these mounts liquid filled hydraulic? I think MBZ commonly uses that design of engine mounts. Better vibration isolation but they never seemed to last as long as traditional design ones. Keep up the great work! 👍

      Hey! I just had to drop the steering rack a small amount to move it out of the way. The engine mounts are in a very tight space so the extra room helps. They are hydraulic fluid filled engine mounts so that does make sense why the reliability is lacking. Once changed out, the comfort is much improved for sure.

    Thanks for the help. Turns out the coolant reservoir is only secured by clips so moving it slightly makes it easier and the job can also be done single-handedly. Cheers!

    curious, did you have the steering wheel locked with somthing to avoid damaging the clockspring since you disconnected the column and steering rack? Just wondering if you forgot to mention it or not? Trying to determine from other peoples experiences if doing such is necessary or not lol.

      I recommend locking the steering wheel so you don’t damage it and also so your steering won’t be off alignment when trying to attach it all together again.

      Not exactly sure. I’m sure they are oem equivalent.

    Was the engine ticking/knocking sound contributed to the bad engine mounts?

      Yes it was fixed with new mounts.

      @@Sals_Garage my mercedes is making the same ticking/knocking sound aand I have a slight engine vibration when the car is in gear. How does bad engine mounts cause they ticking sound? Im curious.

    • @Sals_Garage
      @Sals_Garage  Před rokem +1

      @@mikedizzle5273 The excess engine vibration and ticking is due to the collapsed mounts. The engine and transmission mounts should be changed every 75k miles on average.

      Were exactly is the clanking/knocking sound coming from?

    • @LionBlu2000
      @LionBlu2000 Před 28 dny

      With m156, knocking sound when cold is usually camshafts issue. They need to be changed every ~70k miles
