#ProjectManager #Indeed #DayInTheLifeVideo
This is how you do "A Day in the Life of a....."! I've seen many of these types of videos and at the end of them you never really truly know what the person does in the specified role. Instead you would just see people getting coffee or exercising and pretend to type on their workstations. On another note I work in project management as well and this was refreshing to see a project manager showcasing their day and what it takes to be a project manager outside of my industry. Goes to show that project managers have a place in every industry which is why I enjoy my career. Good job Indeed!!
We love these type of comments 🤩 thanks so much for watching and sharing more insight into project management!
So, what exactly does a person truly do in this video?
@@rogerdinhelm4671 The person shows how project management works in broadway. In this case she gave a snippet of actual projects that she is working on. She shows the collaboration tools that she uses and the project management software that she uses to manage her projects.
@@bengyfrancois152 I believe the question was not what she, shows, but what she truly does.
@@rogerdinhelm4671 Regardless I still answered your question. Not sure why your being condescending. I answered the what and to give context and I answered the “show” by saying “she shows”. Together those two statements answer what she truly does. Not sure what your looking for but other “day in the life of a” usually blur their screens and never really tell you or show you the tools they use. They also never show you engagement with other employees or stakeholders. If they do they edit the audio out. I understand why they do that because they may not want to share confidentiality information. However, indeed did a good job but ensuring that they hand picked activities that she could share and show us in the video above.
Project Management is an excellent field to work in if you seek excitement, want to avoid dullness, find solving problems quickly to be satisfying, and a whole slew of other pluses. After twenty plus years in software, hardware, and business-related PM work I've retired and now teach PM online. This is an always-growing field where good PMs can earn excellent money and have plenty of opportunities.
Indeed, and the demand for project manager jobs in all businesses is set to grow even more, plus most can be fully remote and can involve extensive travel depending on the type of industry. Most of my experience was in the event industry, digital media, and lighting tech/construction.
True!
this is advertising, it's not even a real job...
@@ivok9846are you dumb???
@@adamcoppola7591in which industry does a remote pm thrives?
This is incredibly helpful! I love how you really show us exactly what you do and not just give a general statement. This really gives us a bit more than an idea of what to expect.

This is really smashing, being able to see the context of someone's work and how they craft a day - and what they do is unbelievably helpful! ⚡
Good demo of a project manager's life. I've been a hybrid project manager for 11+ years and it's fascinating watching someone in the industry and how similar and different each industry is. All the best.
Can't believe the negative comments on here claiming it's a useless job, AI will replace all of them, blah blah. OK, so why are there so many project manager job openings, why are there still so many of them earning 85k and above, hybrid and remote, etc? So stupid people think every job is going away just because of Chat GTP.
This is so awesome! Absolutely loved working with you and great to see your face :)
Me in an interview:
What do you do as a project manager

Thanks for sharing! I got my PMP a few months ago. Haven't moved into a PM role, but, it has helped me in my current role for sure!
I am a project manager as well. One thing I can say (IMO) a project manager should be someone who feels comfortable with all level, be accommodating, but at the same one needs to know when to made the decision or call a shot.
Same goes with me. Starting morning with a cup of coffee will ensure the productivity for the whole day
Well done Gillian! Thanks for sharing with us your daily work. Much appreciated. Best wishes!
Thank you for the feedback! 😀
@Indeed you are very welcome!
Wow! I live in Seattle and saw that billboard almost every day for the past couple months.

How cool is this?! I didn't know that you could work with Broadway shows as a PM. So much more appealing to me
Great video. Good to see what the day to day life is like for different roles. I've definitely noticed the difference when our team works with a good vs bad project manager.
I liked this video very much; I wish to have more from this kind of video about each job in life as a series; this will help plenty of people to be close to the job itself, especially when shifting careers.
I was a Project Manager in 2001. Only for a short while. Been there, done that!
Inspiring and motivational! This was also an informative and well explained video! Definitely will be looking into project management courses or what schools offer Project Management majors. Would love to know more about hybrid jobs after seeing this! Great work INDEED!

Thanks for your day in the life of a PM. I love project management, you get to lead a team to make a difference, and can really influence the outcome quality. You also have to be able to deal with conflict, mediate, think calmly through tough situations. It is not for everyone, as it can chew you up and spit you out if you let it. Highly recommend doing some formal training to really "sharpen the saw" (Stephen Covey) to become a competent PM. Oh, and I love sitting at my desk with a thermos of coffee to really enhance my thinking during meetings.
@@Thalasaur happy to help. We all started where you are, and I am still learning from lessons.
Hi! Im currently a dental assistant. I have been for 3 years and I’m trying to get into being a PM. Im taking the google course soon, any tips or recommendations to getting into the job?
@@MontserratGarci , There are a number of ways to get into project management, from starting with formal training, to being part of project teams as a specialist within your organisation in your area of competence (e.g. your speciality within dentistry). If you can, let your manager know you want to be part of projects, or potentially liaise with your project management office (PMO) to see how you can be part of projects (look around your dentist, as everything needs a project, from equipment requirements gathering to installation etc). You can go straight into formal training, including Price2 , Agile practices, PMP etc, but from my 30 years of various industry experience, a majority of project managers are accidental project managers. They become a subject matter expert in their field, are able to deliver (get things done), and these turn from basic tasks to work packages (number of tasks), all of a sudden you have been given a number of people to help you do this…meaning you are leading a project team…… AKA an accidental project management. This is when I thought I needed to develop my skills formally in project management, and did a diploma in project management, which covered Price2, PMBoK, and Agile practices that gave me a “bag of tools” and methodologies to utilise to tailor them to the project I am working on. From my experience, I am best to PM in my industry (business improvement , ICT , and vendor contract negotiations and implementation). I could be a project manager on a construction project , as they use PM methodology, but I stay within my circle of competence as Warren Buffet says ““Everybody’s got a different circle of competence. The important thing is not how big the circle is. The important thing is staying inside the circle.”. The big thing is, ensure you know how to manage risks in a project, as poor risk management can land you in serious trouble, including jail and/or fines (e.g. health & safety, environmental etc)
Thank u I was thinking about studying this, but I might be too soft for the role, guess I’ll have to keep looking :/
You don't actually fucking do anything all day, do you? "Project management" is like calling a plumber when your sink leaks, and at the end of the day saying "I fixed the leak." You produce no value for other people.
Finally a REAL Day in Life!!! Keep it coming please!

@@darkodavkov7751 You made my day! Thank you!
I would like to see a video of a day in life of a Business Analyst
Looks so simple and not stressful at all.
Dont be fooled - her calendar looked pretty chill, probably early phase of a project.
I would say at least 40% of the work time is communicating or moderating.
Another 30% Planning/Preparing stuff, another 10% documentation/reporting.
Whats left is improvements or knowledge transfer or small side projects.
At least thats how it is for me.
Oh, and managing one project at a time seems extra chill. For me a lot of the stress (not necessarily negative) comes from having to "jump" between different projects and switching between the different "worlds" of each project.
@@janeymers7154 what industry are you in? Because when I was a regional brand manager (not in the US), my day would be about 5 times more loaded than this.
I was actually looking for an IT project manager day, I wanted to see how people deal with all the Scrum features.
I feel it was watching college kids doing a school project! the YAY at the end of the meeting was it for me.

This was really great! I have an interview today and this has really helped me imagine what I’ll be doing, which I think will help me better explain how my skills line up with the role.
Did you get the job ? lol
@@4vocadoseries nope. But not because of anything I did. The interviewer told me he thought the interview went great but he was concerned that I wasn’t proficient in WordPress. While I was willing to learn, I hate WordPress and didn’t know that would be a dealbreaker for a project management role so… bullet dodged I guess. Lol

This was satisfying to watch.
I'm getting my Masters degree in project management. Thank you so much for letting me see a piece of what it actually means to be a project manager.
You have to study university in your country for being a project manager??? Its a joke??? This job can do everybody who can communicating with another person!! this is not science!!!!!!!!
Just be cautious - this probably is more representative of a junior PM position in a product development environment. If your field is engineering or software it'll be quite different, particularly if it involves client commercial T&C's such as via NEC4. Your time will absolutely be soaked up by configuration management (CE's, EWN's, TRA's, Risk reduction, and ofcourse baseline & earned value - EVM). Before you then get into indemnities & other ADE's (assumptions, dependencies, exclusions). Good luck - it's a fun career!
You should have gotten experience as a project manager before pursuing a masters. You could’ve made well over 90k-110k as a entry level and got certifications along the way for higher pay. If needed your company could’ve also paid to further your education😢
@@ilovecardboard1009 Hi! Is a master degree in engineering degree (civil/construction) is enough to be a project manager ? I studied and worked a bit abroad.

Tweak is a banned word in Project Management btw. It's CHANGE. Once you use this language your scope control will become so much better. Also, for any prospective PM's - a lot of the job will become commercial contracts management through CEMAR or other such NEC4 tools to track EWN's, CE's, prolongations/ deferrals & risk reductions. This role is quite reminiscant of a project admin role or junior PM (assistant PM) if you're job hunting. Full PM roles will also have legal responsibilities, particularly under CDM regs if your in construction.
amazing thank you for that. could u also quickly explain all the acronyms like CEMAR NEC4 EWN CE, and the terms prolongations/deferrals and risk reductions?
