Snl is still great. People just always do that thing where there only appreciate the past and take the current talent for granted. People use to hate on this cast too.

People only remember the good sketches from the past but the bad moments from the present. Every past season had some really awful stuff, and the present has had some great moments (although tbh this season has been pretty meh for the most part).

My parents loved SNL back in the 70's on, and they'd let my lil' Sis and I watch with them. It was a family affair... that often left them with some 'splainin about some things, lol. I'm so glad for all that, still. Every decade of changing comedians & skits has been put through the hate machine and smelled like a rose later, each time. 3:)
They need to make a “Dooneese movie”!

Hilarious! Kristin Wigg's hair line is hysterically funny. I remember watching The Lawrence Welk Show with my grandparents. This skit isn't far off at all. I just noticed Kristin's doll hands! Who thought of that? OMG - "I like chasing cars." What a riot!

When I was a little girl, my mum made us watch Lawrence Welk. Why? Because I had 3 sisters & my mum was a concert pianist and church organist. She dreamed of the 4 of us performing together 😂 Yes, we were forced to sing in front of the congregation.
My sister, Tanja, passed away much too young 3 years ago, yesterday. She & I never missed an episode & when Kristen Wiig debuted, we were laughing so hysterically, "That could be us!" for years. Of course, I was voted to be Dooneese...yet my birth name is? TONI 😂
(I am a singer in a band now, too, btw, lol.)

I had the opposite experience. On Sunday we would go to my maternal grandmothers house. We would watch The Wonderful World of Disney, and Wild Kingdom. Both of which I enjoyed. Of course we couldn't leave until after Lawerence welk. I hated that.
To add insult to injury, children were forced to be in the band in grammar school, and junior high. I have no musical talent at all. Of course my grades sucked which dropped an otherwise high GPA.
To this day, I pretty much dislike music. I listen to talk radio when in the car.

Whether it's playing in band, watching music videos/concerts/biographies on CZcams, listening to music or just sorting through my thousands of CD's (yeah I'm old) and records, I couldn't imagine a day of my life without music. Since I'm not going to be buried when I die, I've requested one of my guitars to be burned up with me when I'm cremated.

My dad's grandparents loved watching the Lawrence Welk show, and I remember watching it with my dad years later and I remember finding it weird and hilarious. Glad some SNL writer realized this was a ripe parody gem.

Oh, Gods... that takes me back to my youth in West Virginia, where for years every Saturday night it was the same two programs back-to-back: The Lawrence Welk Show and Hee Haw. Lawrence Welk had a weirdly charming way of doing racism, as almost every week he would introduce "...our little Mexican girl, Anacani!" And the bubbles... all the fucking bubbles!! Its like they hired a 6-year old with the promise he can blow all the bubbles he wants for an hour!!! I know it was supposed to be "champagne" music, but even champagne doesn't have *that* many bubbles!!!! And I still say that Myron Floren was just a little *too* happy to be playing with his accordion, if you know what I mean... especially when Anacani was on stage...
