Stats aren't being relevant. Hikaru played less matches compared to Ian and Carlsen so by playing less compared to them it's easier to achieve that rating. Ian is pretty impressive considering he played 24 more matches than Hikaru and 12 more than Magnus and he is in second place.

Gukesh has 70 points out of 107 games. Even if his performance is lower than Hikaru's, I think it's more impressive than Nakamura's 18'5 points out of 31. If someone plays 5 games in the last year and gets a 2840 performance that wouldn't mean he is the best player in the world of the year.

We need to know the average strength of all matches to be able to make any useful observations.

I was a big fan of the NFL and for decades rooted for my favorite team. But now that I started watching Hikaru play tilted Tuesday and other tournaments he has became my new âNFLâ to watch. He is now my favorite team lol. Be great if there was a to watch his games live and in person. I would wear a Hikaru jersey to it if I could lol.
