Royal steering wheels have done my wheel in alcantara and blue stripe in the middle. I have now covered about 60. 000 miles and 6 years with it and i clean it about quarterly. The wheel still looks like new on the alcantara part, only the dye on the blue part is just about starting to come off in few areas. Car is being as a daily, M240i.
Laundry detergent mixed with hot water is also great alternative and does not leave a mess.
So YES, absolutely alcantara is great material for steering wheel!
Thanks for your feedback. That perfectly proves the point. 👏
Thank you Marek, another helpful product 👍
Greetings from Austria, by the way: the Sparco shoes are awesome 🤗🫶
Thanks ☺️ best regards 👋
I’m the same as you , I always have wipes or hand gel in the car.
I only fitted my wheel in December, so will see how it is over the summer months.
You won’t have a problem.
How scratch resistant do you find the Alcantara? Thinking of getting one but I use a steering wheel lock which clamps over the top of the wheel.
Just wondering how resistant the material would be to having a steering lock on it?
Never used one but generally alcantara can’t be scratched because it’s made of fibres. It’s a bit like a suede (like kiwi skin).
I think the people that complain about their alcantara wheel getting horrible in a short space of time, must be people that just never wash their hands!
Well, maybe they just don’t care but then they shouldn’t be mourning about it getting horrible.
@@MDrives exactly right.
Where did you get this steering wheel?
From BMW eBay store 2 years ago. They do sale with a large discount from time to time. I think it was a Black Friday deal.
@1:48 There have not been 24 months from December 2022 until now.
It was Christmas Eve 2021 if I am not mistaken.
You are correct. Just checked and it was end of 2021. I think I still live in 2023 😅
Personally think ppl are going off the alcantara, had my wheel changed at royal steering wheels other day n most now r smooth leather n perforated as so easy to clean n keeps its look
It’s personal preference tbh. I find alcantara to feel nicer than leather.
Yeah I won’t ever go back to leather after having Alcantara
@@jamiecoutts8211 I have a leather in my other car and it’s fine but alcantara definitely feels more special and soo much warmer now when it’s cold. Heated leather is great in a winter.
Fairy liquid and a micro fibre is the best thing to use .
Thanks. Might give it a go in a future.
Hi, what exactly you mean with "fairy", do it please have also another word to describe? or a link
@@CandyX1979 just Google fairy liquid
