- We're in Lockdown. The hair salons have been closed for months. Eventually I had to take the plunge and cut my own hair. Having never done it before, I watched the awesome tutorial by Curly Tay on CZcams ( • EASY DIY HAIRCUT FOR C... ) and bit the bullet!
Here's my version; have a watch and follow along. Let me know how you get on!

Finally a DIY haircut for wavy/curly hair…
Followed your directions and am so happy with results. The cool part was that I didn't really cut that much, only about 1 1/2 inches from each layer but it made a huge difference. I no longer have that triangular pyramid head. Thank you.

I,ve followed your tips and I think it's the best cut I,ve ever had 😁👌.I have always wanted to cry after the hairdresser totally did a hachet job on my hair 😭.so I stopped going to hairdresser's and cut my own, your video has taught me how to sort the fringe and sides out 👌, having natural curly wavy hair can be a nightmare 🤣 lol

Thank you so so much for making this! I tried cutting my hair a few times from CZcams videos but haven't been able to get nice layers like I wanted. My hair is fine but very thick and wavy/frizzy. I cut it following all of your steps a few days ago, and I love my hair more and more every day since! One thing I will say is this haircut also looks fabulous with straight hair. I cut mine after I had blown it out, and I could tell right away after cutting off a few inches (it was pretty long) that it lifted and had body again. I also tried out my new thinning shears in place of the feathering since my scissors are not very good, and it was quick and easy. I just cut each section one time across, 1/2-3/4 inch from the ends. I didn't have to make any corrections so I just kept on going! Today I've just tried scrunching my wet hair with a curl cream and the waves turned out SO pretty! This was a huge success. I look younger and feel like myself again! As long as I can replicate this haircut, I will never have to pay for one again. Thanks again and many blessings to you! 💖🌄🙏

Thanks so much for sharing your home cut! You and I have similar hair texture and length, and your video was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I did trim my length last year after watching some videos, which was successful, but I tried some side cutting, and it was a disaster that took about six months to grow out (it poofed out on the side of my head )😭😭)

Beautiful and thank you so much for sharing your video. Your’s has helped me the most. I have curly wavy hair and it does bulk out on the sides my hair is shoulder length. I feel the hairstylist do a blunt cut. They don’t cut up into the hair like you do 👍🏼you did a great job. Thank you

What if you don’t wear your hair parted down the middle, does that not matter?? Should I still part it down the middle to cut it!?
And you got the layers even in the back? What difference it’s between this method and the one you do a few more unicorn layers?

It looks like the feathering you did on all the ends is to lighten the thickness. i have very fine hair and if I omit that work, I wonder if a hairdresser would approve.
i have fine hair and my hairdresser uses that kind of method on mine all the time to blend the ends. you don't have to do as much with fine hair, though.
I have wavy curly very fine but lots of hair follicles on my head,so it's full but fine and layers will give you body if you have really fine and not a lot of hair follicles 👍

Ok I followed your instructions and cut my hair. Now plz tell me how to get those lovely curls. My hair looks like a roadside shrub.
haha I did a gel cast. Wash hair with a non-sulphate shampoo and cool water, condition with loads of non-silicone conditioner. Don't dry the hair, don't even really remove any water, instead put a non-silicone gel all over it, over the top of your hair (don't rake through). Then use a cotton T shirt to scrunch it into curls (not a towel). I use Biotera Alcohol free Gel. The hair will dry in a hard, curly cast. Only once dry can you then scrunch out the hardness. Don't go mad on it though, to avoid frizz. There are some great 'how to create a gel cast' vids out there x
a bit late but look up the curly girl method! That's basically what this other person is explaining. But you do need to have at least naturally wavy hair, if you have straight hair it's gonna stay straight lol
I’ve successfully cut my own hair before, but thought I’d try this and I DO NOT recommend! I have wavy hair but maybe this only works on super curly hair. Either way, totally wrecked the ends of my hair and I’ll probably have to go to a stylist to fix it, in addition to having shorter hair than I had wanted ☹️

How To Keep Long Hair Out Of Your Face
Has anyone watching this tried it on fine hair? I haven't got alot of hair so thought of layers absolutely terrifies me incase I end up looking bald 😂
I did this cut yesterday and I have really thin and fine hair and it actually still looks nice for my hair type! If you leave your hair natural the waves or curls add a lot of volume to it so it doesn’t look as thin or flat as it would if it was straightened or blow dried :D

I think you must have done that hair cut of yours a few times, as you made it look so easy to cut your own hair, as I tried to it and needles to say, it hasn't turned out at all the way it should have even after following your techniques even after me watching your video several times.
