You have an 80s shag. You're so lucky to find a stylist who can/will do this. I gave up and cut my hair myself now.
I know, when I was in high school no stylist had problem doing it but now... I tink no hair stylist has made me the correct cut in like 8 years
A small business barber shop cut my shag and it only took like 18 minutes and it came out really good

when i was growing up i kept asking for layers because i had the triangle head problem and every time my mom or the stylist would be like "are you sure? you won't be able to braid it anymore, it'll just puff up around your head," etc etc and i was a perpetually indecisive 14 year old so of course i just listened to them but i was so frustrated every time and i've never felt so vindicated than right now

As someone with the same hair type but a round face, make sure you get the shortest layer cut to below your cheekbones.

I ALWAYS tell hair stylist's that this is the cut I want and they never want to do it. But I know that's what I like and what looks good. They always think its going to be a mullet 🤣. But I was part of the scene days and I know it looks good on my face. So you're not alone. Love the color by the way! 😍 thanks for the video! 🧡

Last time I trusted somebody with my curly hair, I told them I wanted some layers for volume, and I ended up with POODLE EARS 😭 On. My. Head. ☠️ Literally I had two very DISTINCTLY different lengths of hair, where the top layer was triangle hair!! And then the bottom continued down and was all one length, straight across. I looked like I was wearing a bob wig sitting right the frick on top of long hair 🤡🤡

Triangle hair Tip: Even if your hair is looking triangle on a middle part try wearing it side parted after it is dry. It gives the illusion of a much fuller and voluminous hair

Ive been trying to tell the lady that cuts my hair that i need a cut that doesnt make my hair a triangle and she keeps telling me that short layers will give me too much volume and thatll make my hair ugly so i always end up w/ the triangle hair and at this point i hate my hair a little bit lol and i'm desperate so thanks for this vid

What I've learned is that, a lot of ppl and hair salons relate wavy/curly hair with unprofessional hair, that's why they don't like to make certain hair cuts or they don't learn the proper way to cut curly hair.

Yes! Earlier this month I went to a salon and showed the stylist older pics of scene hair and my hair definitely thanked me lol. It was definitely wavier after the cut, even the side that is normally more flat was just as wavy as the other side!
Finally!!! Someone with the triangle issue. I always tell the place that cuts my hair I utterly loathe the 'dog ears'. Had ONE cut one time the stylist said 'Thats a scene haircut' but a bit longer. I wear my hair down and let it do its wavy thing or in a ponytail for work. Love the length and the layers!! Im a bum no blowdrying or anything all natural. Love it!! Thank you😊🌹🌻🔆

Okay wait, I literally got this haircut like a month and a half ago and hatedddd it because she cut my layers WAY too short. Now I know this is really a thing, she just cut mine too short!! I’ve been wearing it up since I got it cut but now it’s grown out and settled down and I wore it natural today and it looks so much better! It’s so full and voluminous! A hair dresser cut my hair like this to get rid of damage because it was mostly on the top layers and it was really fried. I LOVED it and thought I should just ask for layers but I havent gotten a hair dresser to do it again and I didnt know how to describe it or what to ask for THANK YOU SO MUCH
Back when I was about 13 I had no idea I had wavy hair and cut it into a one length bob...biggggg mistake. It was so triangular and as I was so young it took me ages to realise why my hair looked so ridiculous and wouldn't lie flat like most girls with short hair. xDDD

I think I need a similar haircut - my hair is all the same length and i think the weight is making my natural waves not work properly! I have medium thickness hair but LOTS just like you - like several kilos of weight on my head. Once I wore my hair in a bun while I slept and the weight of my hair strained a muscle in my neck...

I just got my hair cut like this two days ago for the first time and I love it! I definitely found that my waves seem to be more defined now and look much better!! And I finally have some volume at my crown instead of being flat!

I have wavy hair almost like hers and I was always afraid to put layers in it because I thought it would be too voluminous but it was the best thing I ever did, my hair grows slow so getting the dryer ends off really helped too, now is in way better condition. I air dry my hair and use clips at the crown to create root lift so not damaging it.

Nah it's not just the layers it's mostly how you style it. Like Farrah vs 80s big hair vs mall hair lol...thete are plenty of modern styles with layers don't give up.

As someone who used to straightened her bangs a lot...I can totally say that they won't curl (I've been making progress, but it has been 2 months since I stopped using the flat iron, and they barely wave.....but I'm getting a wave, when before I wasn't getting anything!!!)
I habitually straightened my hair for years and mine ringlets now, it takes time for sure. Protein treatments really helped me out

Omg!! I have this problem all the time with stylist! I have thick hair I like my hair natural . I always try to explain it to them I always get the BS of my hair will staked if I get short layers and they do long layers and end up a triangle. It just feels so wighted down. Never knew how to explain it without them doing a bad dated old hair cut! I love my hair flows and layeri it’s more bouncy. Thank you for this

OH SO THAT'S WHY MY HAIR DOESN'T DO THAT ANYMORE. You just made me realize omg. I have way too much hair too, and used to be a coarse wavy to curly gurl, but after what I call "the thinning" of my hair due to thyroid problems that happened a few years ago, my hair pretty much stopped being a walking puff, still kinda curly in the bottom, but I just realized why I didn't need layers anymore to control it, bc it's not that thick anymore! Woah. I still miss my thicc hair but, well, life, right?

I think i finally found someone with the same curl pattern and type of hair, i was struggling so hard with this omg
I used to have more curly hair but now it is just sort of wavy. I think the purpose of a deva cut is so that the hair is shaped correctly in a sense. But it depends on what you're going for and many people get layers to avoid the triangle look including me. But I understand why it isn't as necessary for someone with your hair pattern because dry cutting will get you the length you want vs getting it cut wet and having dramatic shrinkage and possible gaps in the hair. I definitely think this type of tapered 70s cut is coming back in style and is flattering especially on wavy hair. I'm thinking of trying it at my next cut.
You and I have the EXACT same hair texture I swear. But I feel sooo torn about layering my hair because I still like to straighten it sometimes, and it looks SO much better all one length when it’s straight 😩
I’d just leave it then and you could try wearing it half up half down when it’s wavy to take some weight off ☺️ I do that too
Also keep it the same all one length and wear a deep side part when wavy. It helps

Having had so many bad haircuts over the years with my thin, curly, but excessive amount of hair, is why I learnt to cut it myself. If i ever do go to the hairdressers they are told to just trim the ends, to leave a little bit of damage and to not change the style. I have without even really knowing what i was doing given myself several shorter layers much like yours and have never loved my hair this much ever! I am literally the same as you with hair that goes on and on.The bulk of my extra hair happens to be on the top or crown which can make me look like a total boof head if not cut or styled correctly. I've got better, but for most of my life i have either tied it all up or half up as i just can't deal with it. I feel like people stare at me too much, like you can't help but notice all this f'en hair flying around haha 🙄

I thought I had the worst hair ever. No one ever taught me anything abt styling. I focused on clothes n makeup and let my hair look like shit. It would look ok sometimes, never great. I didn't even know it was wavy because it was frizzy, fine and I have a lot. When it'd air dry from swimming in the ocean it would have pretty ringlets, but no body up top. Your videos has changed my life lol I style like you now and got this cut it totally changed the game for me! Ty!!! I finally feel put together and I'm 35 lmao

Idk if this will help anyone but I have short and fine hair with a pretty normal density (or amount of hairs) with this type of haircut and I love it! It looks lush and kinda like a shorter version of what she has. You don’t need think/dense hair for this. I loved your video though everything you said was right on the mark, and that color on you is GORGEOUS

I swear I have the same hair as you! And my hairstylists would always underestimate how much hair I have. I used to straighten and color my hair all the time, but since quarantine I decided to stop using the flat iron as well as stop coloring and going gray. I also have very thick wavy/curly hair and almost anyone whos ever cut my hair hasnt done it the way i wanted until i made my coworker cut with me telling her what to do 😂 whi knew that all we needed was an extremely layered “shag/mullet” hair cut in order for to style our hair without it looking unruly or like a triangle

🔸️My hair is super duper fine and i also have VERY little hair , ive been getting this same haircut for about 7 months now and it adds SOOOOOOOOOO much volume and body and my curl pattern looks so much better! i also had straight hair towards the top of my head and ever since ive been getting this haircut i get more curls towards that area (my stylist says its due to less weight on the hair) i encourage my CURLY/WAVY & FINE/THIN haired girls to give it a try.
