1981 DCI was not allowed to video record finals in Canada (The following year was allowed) so they decided to showcase the Mid-West Championships from Whitewater, Wisconsin a week before finals. The show was recorded/televised as "championships" for the year on video. DCI would put out complete audio recordings that year per usual at that time.
