Rupak Kulkarni is an Indian Bansuri player. With the musical background of his father late Malhar Rao Kulkarni, Rupak continued his learning under the Padma Vibhushan Hariprasd Chaurasia to represent Maihar Gharana. As a first Ganda Bandh Shagird of Chaurasia since the age of 9, Rupak has specialised in Dhrupad, Khayal and Tantrakari styles.[1]
Rupak has recreated ragas and also written compositions through the flute. Rupak has given experience of the sensuality of Krishna’s instrument "Bansuri" to his audience.His recital is always a experience combining Dhrupad and Khayal Gayaki, melodious Aalap and scintillating Tatkar (Tonguing technique used for Jhala).
Rupak’s first solo flute performance was at the age of 11 at Darbar Hall, Baroda in front of 1500 music lovers. Since then he has performed in almost all major music conferences in all over India and Abroad. He is also one of the most popular among young generationion.[1][2][3][4]
He is also creator of Adbhut Bansuri (Wonder flute).
