The Bansuri, the instrument of the Vishuddhi chakra, is a transverse alto flute of India, made of a single length of bamboo with six or seven open finger holes. An ancient musical instrument associated with cowherds and the pastoral tradition, it is intimately linked to the love story of Shri Krishna and Shri Radha. The North Indian bansuri, typically about 14 inches long, was traditionally used as a soprano instrument primarily for accompaniment in lighter compositions including film music.
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is famous worldwide for his expertise in the Bansuri. Chaurasia is a member of the classical school that has put in conscious effort to reach out to classical music lovers and to attract more people. As a musician, Chaurasia symbolizes a rare unity of tradition and modernity. He has added many dimensions to the expressions of the classical North Indian flute thanks to his expert technique. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Indian president in 1992 as a recognition of his extraordinary contributions to music. www.sahajayogaportal.org/en/mu...

"Music has a way of carrying these Divine Vibrations, but music has to be Divine also. The music which is erotic or something very base or related to something very ugly doesn't work out. But if it is a proper music of a proper type then it communicates. But that discretion only comes after realization. What you enjoy there is the vibrations. You feel the cool vibrations and you start enjoying it...The cool vibrations soothe you down." (HH Shri Mataji)

    Music and Sahaja Yoga Meditation
"The Awakening of the Kundalini in Sahaja Yoga takes place with the touch of Musical Notes. The notes touch the Chakras and the Kundalini gets awakened. The Kundalini reaches the Sahasrara through the Sushumna (Central Path) and through the Chakras. The the Kundalini becomes one with God. Vibrations begin to flow, Yogis go into NIRANANDA (Joyful Meditation) and the seeker begins his journey on the path of evolution." (Dr. Arun Apte)
