    Enjoyed you taking the time to further your explanation of JMRI. JMRI and Speedo can be a useful duo in absence of a layout. A layout is the ultimate goal of any model railroader but, these in conjunction provide you with the ability to 'tinker' if you don't have a layout. Additional: I too see it as necessary to standardize - makes things easier and less parts to store. Industrial Engineering 101.

    Mike, Thank you for this video. Since Bachrus is no longer around you have the only video which goes into setup and how to use the speedometer effectivly. I thought of saving the videos from Bachrus when I purchased the unit but failed to do so. I left this unit on a shelf in the train room as I have been building a layout. Thanks again for the work you put into this video.

    CSV- Comma Separated Values file. A simple text file which holds each record as a separate line and each field in the record is separated one from the other by a comma.

    I do not see the speedo console in JMRI. Is this an add on that needs to be installed to JMRI? Also is there other hardware needed so it can report back the sped of the train? I know this video is 5 years old I hope you still see this message

      It used to be hardware that you could use the company is no longer in existence but you can use a speedometer type hardware to do the same thing.

    Mike, you mentioned inexpensive phones used for DCC throttles. Which phones have you found will work as WiFi throttles with JMRI?

    • @madeverell
      @madeverell  Před 8 lety +1

      Steve, You can get a Straight Talk from Walmart this is a buy as you go plan what you need is the phone not the plan. The WiFi on the phone connects to your wifi stem that JMRI is on and that will work also any smart phone with a ISO or Android system you just need the the Wifi. I bought so cheep tablets from Walmart with an Android system for $50 each and used them they where from RCA: www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-7-Tablet-16GB-Quad-Core/45804400. Great price and 7" screen real deal for older eyes. Hope that helps.

    Hello Mike, I just purchased the NCE USB Interface product to be able to use JMRI Decoder Pro. I am getting two messages when trying to work with Decoder Pro. Both messages are in RED in the lower left portion of "DecpderPro: All Entries” screen introduction.
    No Service Mode Programmer Available. No Operations Mode Programmer Available.
    These should be GREEN. What do you think I am missing in my install process?

    • @madeverell
      @madeverell  Před 7 lety

      Sherrie, Might need a little more information but you need to start at the what OS are you using (Windows or Apple). If Windows you need to look at the device manager and see if the com port is setup with the NCE drivers. And please let me know what the two messages are that are in red.

    • @madeverell
      @madeverell  Před 7 lety

      If Its windows I am betting that the computer does not know what com port you are on or you don't have the driver installed This link is from NCE and has a link for the drivers:
