Can't believe we didn't see his awesome moment when he was sent out by John Stewart to find out what was happening and was caught by the yellow lanterns. Buck naked, talking smack to them. And then recited the lanterns oath.
Guy has grown on me over the past few years. I used to think there was nothing interesting he really brought to the stories but lately I’ve started to appreciate some of the stories he’s been a part of. Also, hope you had a good time back in Lex for the holidays, I moved here earlier this year and really like it.
Bradley Combs love him as a red lantern
Guy Gardner the Red Lantern was the most entertaining.
Red FX that fist fight against the other red lantern with no ring was bad ass
Injustice 2’s comics made me like Guy. For those who don’t know Guy was murdered by Hal in injustice 1’s story and in IN2 his ghost is haunting Hal
Dude! Spoiler alert
@@dontknow6213 😂😂😂😂😂, sorry dude
dammit spoiled
It’s because they used the character the right way. Instead of annoying everyone, he tells Hal a harsh truth: he’s forgiven, but he has to live with what he did.
I love, the Guy Gardner love. I hope if the “Green Lantern Corps.” movie ever comes out, Guy is in it.
Wb is producing a tv show, so we probably won't get a green lantern movie anytime soon. Really hoping he shows up in the tv show though
I hope Guy in it too
Well you got your wish 😁
@@thephantomzone1884 Well...would you look at that. Aged like a fine wine. Lol
Clicked freaking fast because it's Guy Gardner
Guy Gardner’s Red lantern corps was one of my favorite books. The only future end tie in that was entertaining seeing guy as a blue lantern with mastery over the emotional spectrum.
Anyone else here after finding out Nathan Fillion is gonna play him?
He's way too old.
@@lordmalal I agree. But he’s also going to a GL who’s already an established member of the JLA so maybe they’ll play into the whole “old guy who can’t give up that he used to be the champ” thing
I can't be the only one who remembers his cameo in Duck Dodgers when Dodger's becomes a green lantern,
I loved Duck Dodgers
That's what got me into Green Lantern
Red lantern guy is best guy
Bad ass.
Been a huge Guy fan for decades. He's one of the best characters in the entire DC universe.
After Kyle Rayner, the JLI Guy Guardner was my favorite. Even after his "one punch" by Batman and subsequent brain damage that made Guy into "wimp Guy" who still loved Ice. The best Guy Gardner was Warrior, because Guy was his own person, he didn't need anyone else, even though he did have support people and even Arisa joined his team until her death. But GL Rebirth used Hal Jordan the Spectre to literally "burn" all of the Vuldarian genes out of Guy, making him a "normal human" again, and giving him a copy of a GL ring. Because we cannot have dual-power superheroes for some reason, although the entire GL Corps is built upon that standard of different aliens all with one type of power ring.
Wrath of the First Lantern changed Guy's story all around, as well as Guy's family, and even with Guy getting the spotlight in GL vs. SC with Arkillo and Guy becoming Red (loved the first iteration, hated the mullet in the second, wanted to keep him in Lost Lanterns, but he's pure green again), even with the Darkstars suit Guy is still second-best to Hal Jordan and John Stewart. I would love to see Guy with Ice/Tora again, even in JLA.
DUDE!!! USE A FREAKING SPOILER WARNING. Man jerkoffs like you should get put in jail one week each for every movie. tv series. or comic book you ruin. Thanks alot...... MORON!!
Guy Gardner looking like Val Kilmer in that last panel.
I can see it.
Cannot unsee
My mans dad just whipped out a bowl and said, ' I'm sorry Guy, but your quarantine haircut has just got out of control.'
hears "guy gardner, warrior"
waits patiently knowing rob's predilection in speech pattern
"now the cool thing about this"
*NO ROB! BAD ROB*
The red lantern run for guy had to be his coolest ever. Hands down.
You forgot to mention his Emerald Warriors series that got canned in favor of the New52. It ran around 12 issues I think and the subplots went nowhere despite setting up some good enemies for the GLC...
Enjoy your character backgrounds immensely. Great work. Your channel is pretty much the only reason i hop onto CZcams
Going from the Hal Jordan explainer to this is like night and day. The natural, less scripted, relaxed voice is way better. And hearing someone get so excited about comic book stuff is awesome.
thanks Rob. literally my favorite Lantern
I joined patreon and I also love your videos. I tapped the video so quick
Who’s here after the news! James Gunn knows what’s hes cookin
Guy Gardner is a boy that you love to hate and vice versa.
Above all, you always count on him.
"Bye bye Bats"
"Hnnnn...."
Am I the only one who knew about him from the batman brave and the bold cartoon who is voiced by James Arnold Taylor(obi wan kenobi,Johnny test, green arrow, etc)
There were so many times were he was hilarious lol. Also they did the one punch in brave and the bold green lanterns desperio episode.
Guy has had some badass moments. My favorite green lantern
So many people misunderstand Guy Gardner as a character. Yes, he's an insanely massive jerk, but that's part of what makes him so likeable imo. Basically Guy is kinda like Booster Gold in that he plays up his dickishness, he WANTS everyone to hate him, because if people are hating on him then they aren't hating on anyone else. And Guy motherfucking Gardner can take the hate and keep on kicking. It's why he was the only one Hal could trust to turn into a Red Lantern. Even Hal knows that Guy can take it.
Plus I freakin love his Green Lantern uniform, I mean...it's terrible fashion wise, but that's exactly WHY I love it. It's just another thing that helps Guy stand out from the rest of them.
Guy is my favorite DC character and deserves more stories.
Can you do Jon Stewart next?
Imagine if Guy Gardner, Booster Gold, Deadpool and Beast Boy got together to complete a mission. It would end up in a circus😂.
Deadpool is marvel
@@richarddavies5674 I can dream can't I
Make sure you do John Stewart next Rob!
I love everything about guy gardner, except his garbage haircut
Pretty much
the bowl was the best tho
Yup
@@p00lboy lol.
Something has to point out that he's the "dork"/"nerd"/"geek"/"outsider" Green Lantern. You know, be the "uncool" (non-clique in a more awkward than rebel way) Green Lantern.
My favorite Guy Gardner is the Red Lantern version with the big handlebar mustache
Love the Green Lantern Corps. I wish DC would do more Green Lantern books and miss the Geoff John's run.
Geoff johns needs be charged of DC
Justin Cook(the voice of Yusuke Urameshi from Yu Yu Hakusho) would be a fun voice for him.
Guy Gardner as a Green Lantern can be summed up as: best costume, worst haircut.
I rarely say this, folk, but you are OBJECTIVELY wrong about Liam Sharpe's art on Lantern. If it's not for you, fam, Gucci. That's fair enough but to just flat out call it bad is not just hyperbolic but extra as all hell.
Its trash bro
It's his own personal opinion, if you like it, that's fine
@@blackphoenix77 there's a difference between subjectivuty and Objectivity, he is Objectively wrong.
@@Bobby-ix4fx Objective : (of a person or their judgement) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.
The second an opinion is involved it becomes Subjective. Quite literally the point. So yes you are correct. There is a difference and you clearly dont understand it
@@Azazreal i very much agree, its his opinion, but he is Objectively wrong because it is not a fact. Liam Sharpe's art isnt bad in any way.
This is the best Comic book excited expland channel ever (To me)
Guy Gardner's book lasted longer than seventeen issues: it ended with #44. Also, I don't know why they never really talk about Guy using Sinestro's ring anymore; I thought it would have come up during the Sinestro Corps War. P.S. I'm not really a fan of Morrison's Green Lantern either.
They did mention Guy using Sinestro's yellow ring in the Sinestro Corp War. I believe it was in Green Lantern #23
@@scinnyc They did? I haven't read that issue in awhile: I'll have to dig it out.
dr fate, shazam and martian manhunter today are soooo op and popular that thinking they used to be the unsellables almost sounds made up or unheard of lol. I think my fav green lantern moments were guy wielding both red and green rings and his use of weapon constructs, john using his ring to call kryptonite knuckles to trick zodd, and maybe Hal making his ring out of his own will power or nearly entering the speedforce after talking to his dad and chasing after highfather.
My favorite Guy moment will always be him mooning Batman. Only he could get away with such a thing.
@@Vagus32000 I respect that pick lmao good call
Does someone knows how it goes?
Hal has the most will
Kyle is the most imaginative
John is the most square away
Guy is the reckless
????
I would argue guy may have the most base will. They explained in the rebirth comics that his will would leak from his ring because it would overflow.
Sounds like a D and D party.
They describe themselves like the 4 Horsemen from Wrestling. But they are all Rick Flare.
himode I notice he does more military stuff he is a marine
alex96super damn I need to get into green lantern but I want to star before paralax all the way to rebirth
You completely left out that he beat atrocious to a pulp until his green ring power went to 0%. And took his ring off of him. One of the most badass things I've ever seen in a comic.
IMHO one reason that DC had trouble w/him, is because Guy, is more of a MU character than a DC character.
I always liked Guy's vest.
Guy is my second favourite GL after Kyle of course.
Even though I like Hal, Guy had a really interesting character personality that was fun to read.
However, I wonder if there are just too many Green Lanterns from Earth?
You're really missing out on Morrison's run.
Oh Guy, the Scrappy Doo of the core. I love Guy.
Seann William Scott for Gardner.
You gotta do John Stewart Green Lantern now!!!
Can’t wait for the GLC movie to begin fruition so we can eventually get to see Hal, Guy, John, and Kyle on screen. Between that and the HBOMax series, things look promising for the emerald elite
No offense, but this was less of a explanation and more of a general summing up the surface appearance in the comics, and even then it was missing some of the more interesting arcs that helped define the, uh, Guy. From facing off with Hal Jordon when he went on his Parralax murder death spree, his awkward but earnest courtship of Ice, being completely depowered in the Warrior series and finding his own way through often times ridiculous means (at one point he 'Borrowed' Blue Beatles combat suit, in another he's a meta morph and even in a few issues he ends up shifting into the fairer sex and discovers just how awkward it can be to be a DC heroine, near the finale he's in a ridiculous brawl with Superman), mooning the Batman, or him acting as a mentor for Supergirl as she succumbed to the rage of the Red Lanterns-- any of this would have brought more of an explanation to what and who he is. Heck, even his fondness for sports and/or wrestling metaphors, hitting foes with oversized baseball bats, or his past as being the subject of child abuse from his drunken dad and despite this working as a beat cop just to prove he is not his father-- there is just a ton of entertaining yet oddly moving moments that 'explain' why he is such a fun-- if slightly damaged-- character.
Meanwhile, Hal Jordan, despite being bland and murdering half of the DC universe at some point, is repeatedly given top billing until his uncanny knack for getting comics cancelled manifests and it takes out him and any unfortunate GL's that were in his immediate area at the time. The only recent appearance of Guy was an entertaining speech directed towards Dr. Manhatten trying to get him to surrender to the combined might of nearly every DC hero-- and is then taken out in short order. Le sigh.
Yep, Guy never gets the respect he's due. Sure he's an ass but he really wants to be a hero, to make a difference. And no matter what he doesn't run or give up.
this was a real let down i was hopping for a deep look into guy instead we got a 3rd person here is how he got to where he is look, nothing about his loves his friends his enemies his powers what he can do nothing like that you didnt even mention his love ice wtf dude
The best description of him is yours. "The guy you want in your corner".
More Green Lantern content, cool
Geoff John’s Guy Gardner til now is the best!
Guy Gardner/The Warriors series ran for 45 issue plus 2 annuals, way longer then 16 brotha
Guy Gardener was further away, WOW
The thing can go at light speed
The Green Lantern Corps is a phenomenal Team along side The Justice League
How do you try to explain Guy Gardner and skip over the Warrior era?! That's when Guy hit his peak in popularity, quality and character development!
Guy gardner is the infinite chad
4:04 I thought that was Jon Stewart who was next in line if Jordan was put out of commission.
This guy reminds me of Tony Stark with a nasty attitude
We need an Emma Frost and Beta Ray Bill explanation video! As well as Taskmaster.
Guy Gardner was someone I use to love to hate in the JLA. I enjoyed the blast from the past of yours!!
Rob's laugh counter: 3
The number 4 best earth green lantern and the man who got knocked out by batman.
Allllllll my lantern babys are getting explained, I love it
Notice the "BONK" When batman hit guy with a batman punch.
you shouldld actually read morrisons GL run. its really good
Not really
montanacoke2267 care to explain?
Lockjaw Like Hickman’s X-Men? Sure. In a way, they both took bloated and messy casts & continuities, stripped them down, and are now putting them back together in a unique way.
Is Jessica Cruz in it? And Bleez.
Grant Morrison's new run on "The Green Lantern". Instead of being all about Entities and different colored Corps (which was fun to read for 10+years) it's just Hal Jordan patrolling his sector. There are so many creative scifi ideas, the best strange scifi now that Rick & Morty has no more episodes.
Redlantern guy is best guy
Amen
11:01 That's Captain Marvel.
I did some comic research and turns out he used to have actual powers with no ring just his alien hybrid powers which was awesome before he lost them when parallax tried to possess him until his human DNA overwritten his vuldarian genes
I want a blue lantern tat. Thanks Rob
Guy seems like a nice character.
Thanks Rob!
Grant Morrisons green lantern was really great up until the last few issues where it got really wacky and kind of boring. I also really liked the art personally.
That wasnt John Stewart that's Samuel L. Jackson
so guy has been a green and red lantern but has also wielded a yellow lantern ring interesting does that mean besides kyle rayner is he the most proficient weilder of the emothional spectrum
Guy Gardner aka the GOAT Green Lantern.
People cannot find you based on your first and last name unless they're both extremely rare names.
Since we're in space... Silver Surfer Black..?
Can you do Alan Scott?
Make way for Guy Gardner and his *BIG SWINGING*-
don't forget his the gentle curves of his a-
I like classic Guy Gardner is that is alll I know I mean I don't know his new reboot origin except the one from the eighties ,Since that when first noticed him in comics ,But he has always interesting in comics ,About the coolest time is when Batan knocked him out the Justice League H.Q way back in the day .But he always seems to a little cool in my option. ,Since bit of s hothesd for a Green Lantern ,TO that of Hal Jordan. Green Lantern or any other Green. Lantern of Earth ,Also great video on Guy Gardner. Rob .
Red just fits him right. I really liked Red Lanters.
While theres something messed up with all Green Lanterns that they dont feel fear - and Hal has a long history of head trauma (look up the Green Lantern Head Injury Project) - Guy Gardner is a canonically brain-damaged superhero.
Green Lanterns DO feel fear thats never been the point. They OVERCOME the fear, thats what makes them a Green Lantern and a wielder of Willpower
@@Azazreal I think it depends on the writer. I tend to agree with you, but in some older comics it is more like they are just completely without fear, like some head trauma victims. But only Guy really is. That's all I meant.
So is Goku
There's an issue that deals with that, where the ring did literally remove Hal's ability to fear, and then he gets it back and promptly has an anxiety attack
@@frofunk718 yeah. Can we think of some more literally brain damaged action protagonists (superheroes, anime, games, etc)? What about any with Autism. I think 616 Mr. Fantastic officially is not autistic. Not sure about Legion. Cant think of any.
Guy Gardner in Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps was amazing. Especially his friendship with the yellow lantern. I can’t seem to find that character’s name.
do simon baz and john stewart next
I actually liked the concept of the warrior/living weapon concept, was it good? Not really, but bad writing doesn't make a concept bad, just makes it a wasted opportunity
Nice video bro
Nice!
Guy was always my favorite of the human lanterns
Rob man you're missing out on Grant Morrison's GL it's amazing. Even missing out on Grant Morrison in general
Ryan Reynolds should have. played Guy Gardner. His personality suits him well.
Why does Guy Gardner from the Green Lantern animated series look like a toy story character no offense
Your description of the current Green Lantern books was perfect. No point.
unpopular opinion: Gibbons and tomasi's work on GLC was better than Johns' work on hal jordan
Warner Brothers should make a movie outta that one story arc when him and Lobo teamed up to steal Sinestro ring.
Lobo has a film script. Perhaps, if it ever gets made, they can bring Guy in on a sequel?
Love Guy, 3rd favourite Lantern
