Doomer Sooner: Our Starting QB Gets Hurt! - NCAA 14 Marquette Golden Eagles Dynasty (Y6|W7) - Ep. 81

Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I birth the Marquette Golden Eagles program on NCAA 14.
In this episode, the Golden Eagles fly south to Norman in a matchup with #5 Oklahoma. The Sooners feature the nation's top offense not only on paper at 99 overall, but they've backed it up by averaging 50 points per game to start the year. Marquette will need to run the rock and control the clock while limiting Oklahoma's possessions if they want to upset the Sooners on the road.
The Golden Eagles come out strong with a field goal on their opening drive although they go cold after that. To add salt to the wound, senior QB Greg Walker suffers a knee injury that will sideline him for the next few weeks. Walker has started 42 consecutive games for Marquette while compiling a 28-14 record.
Taking Walker's place under center is redshirt freshman Jason Smith. A four-star athlete who was widely considered a wide receiver, Smith favored Marquette as their plans included him at quarterback. Now he's set to be a three-year starter once Walker graduates after this season and we'll get an early look at what he's capable of.
The odds are stacked against Smith in this game as he enters the game facing a deficit against a top-five team in one of the toughest environments in the country. Hampered by drops and poor blocking, it takes a while for Smith to find his mojo but once he does the offense shows tremendous flashes. Can Smith lead the comeback effort for Marquette, or would it be too little, too late?
In the next episode, Jason Smith will make his first career start as Marquette hosts (1-4) Iowa State. Lance Leipold will need to formulate a different game plan with a much different skillset under center. The Golden Eagles will host their second wave of visits which features the top-ranked player on the recruiting board this year in five-star athlete John Coleman.

Thanks man I appreciate it! Definitely was a tough game and took me a while to get acclimated to such a different skillset at QB. With that being said though, I'm super excited to see how Smith develops as the starting QB after this season.
