    You are totally right about Meredithii. dont like to be touched , don't like repot, its immediately show when she's not happy: dropping leaves, the vain gets dry..a beautiful diva..

    That meredithii is outrageous! The utter audacity of those leaves! I feel like every hoya collector has had to rescue an overwatered curtisii from the big box store. It's like a rite of passage.

    Interesting comment about the curtisii. I bought one in September 2023 at a greenhouse. It too, was too wet, the pot filled with heavy regular potting soil. I monitor the moisture every week as I water my plants; many weeks I skip this plant. I have had great success in starting curtisii (now have 3). A sealed plastic container under grow lights works; the high humidity promotes root growth along the cut stem.

    • @PlantedInRI
      @PlantedInRI  Před 3 měsíci

      It seems as though everyone who has an H curtisii found it overwatered in a big box store. Another commenter said that rescuing an overwatered H curtisii was a "rite of passage" for Hoya growers. I'm going to try that idea for rooting cuttings. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    Many thanks for sharing your beautiful Hoyas and your gorgeous Ludisia Discolor Orchid! I have an eight inch pot of Curtisii I picked up at Walmart and a four in pot that I bought at a local nursery a little over a year ago. The four inch pot grew very little her first year. I assumed she was sleeping. As soon as I brought home the 8 inch pot the 4 inch pot took off like a rocket.😊. My obovata was given to me as a gift by the nursery. She was un-rooted, one node and two leaves. I adore her! She grew strong and quickly. Yours is amazing! Thanks to your video I have added the Meredithiii to my Wishlist. She is stunningly beautiful! Take care and happy growing! 👌🪴🥰

    Hi! H. Meredithii had been on my wishlist for a while. I was finally able to purhase one but the 2 leaf cutting didn't last more than 3 weeks. It didn't look so great when I got it so I was very disappointed. It's back on the wishlist but during that event I came across Hoya ah 032 on Etsy which looks very similar. Love your H. Meredithii, it's the best I've seen of the plant youtubers so far! My curtisii and obovata are slow growing but thriving. Thanks for sharing! Dee, NY

    That was so much fun! I also have a Hoya Curtisii. Mine also came with its own lake and I also used the paper towel at first but it needed to be taken from the pot that it was drowning in. I tipped it over and set it in a towel. I did this the next day as well. I had my doubts that it would bounce back because we know how fragile the roots are on hoyas. I am so happy with mine. It has been a little over a year and I am so pleased to have it in my collection in my kitchen window where it gets the morning sun and bright light and most of all my appreciation. ❤😊

    I also found my curtisii at Home Depot, two of them in 4-inch pots. I brought them home. I repotted them into self watering pots. This was after not being able to get the watering right. • @PlantedInRI
      @PlantedInRI  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks for asking. It's not specifically Hoya food. Because many of my Hoyas are in semi-hydro I use the General Hydroponics "Flora" series. There are other brands, that's simply the one I use. Plants in semi-hydro will need some type of nutrient solution; and since it's there, I use it on my Hoyas in organic medium as well. Thanks for watching and posting your question.

    I also found Hoya curtisii at Home Depot last July and it too was waterlogged. I took mine out and put it on towel to soak up extra moisture then put it outside in shade and it would not grow for 3 months and I couldn’t figure out how to prop it. It died. Have you propped it if so how. Thanks for sharing

    • @PlantedInRI
      @PlantedInRI  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I think H curtisii does better with a good amount of light, thought once they've been overwatered the recovery process can be very difficult. It was months before my plant showed any signs of growth. I did try propping it when I repotted, but I think my approach was wrong, and the props didn't make it. I'm tempted to try again with a different approach. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment

      Thanks. Since most of my Hoyas are in some kind of passive hydroponic set-up, I use a hydroponic food with every watering. There are several brands on the market. I also tweak the amount of light a plant gets. Too much light can make some Hoyas look pale. Thanks for watching and asking your question.
