  • Okay folks, here is one of the oldest tools used. It goes back thousands of years when mankind first started crafting or manipulating a work piece.
    Used by spooncarvers but was used by pioneers on the trail and explorer's.
    Hope you get the jist of how to make one and hope you enjoyed it.
    Try it yourself if you are into carving, you'll love it for controlled and safe knife handling.

    When I first started making expedient primitive bows outdoors, I put the bow material on a tree branch which was about waist high and parallel to the ground. Cordage or rope was over the bow material and held in place by simply stepping in the loop and pushing down.
    This allowed for the stave material to be shaved and tillered more easily at waist height. Some of us call it a stomp vise.
    Thanks for your video and all the best from an old guy in NM.

    Well damn Ray, here I though you were an average working joe like me but al this time you've had this plush woodland cottage to retreat to. I assume it's fully stocked with Dom, foie gras and black truffles too. I hope at the very least you treat the house-keeping staff well.

    Looked like a good day! Was that a turkey.... a coyote’s dinner ? I was wondering if you were gonna get a feather or two 🏹🏹🏹. The shelter seems to have survived Winter pretty good. I kinda made one of those lap vise things on the end of my carving bench I think! Ha ha ha!

    • @RiverbendlongbowsOutdoors
      @RiverbendlongbowsOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      It was a great day until the wind got abit dangerous to be in the woods.
      We have a high bobcat population here as well, so who knows about the Turkey.
      I did get plenty of feathers 😉👍
      Stay safe Chris👊🍻
