If gold drops one day, hold on to it....don't panic one one day's figures.
The most expensive arrow head was sold for 276,000 dollars so it could have made them money. But most of them are just 15 to 30.
Gold doesn't really crash.. it might dip for a month or so but it always ends up worth more. Its a limited resource that gets used in nearly all pieces of tech and its hard to recycle back from the tech aswell as other uses which give it value. If a pawn shop says the price of gold has "crashed" so they can't offer you much without telling you to sit on it and come back in a couple weeks they're probably trying to f you over. The guy I used to sell scrap gold to would always give me the average price of the last few months, where as other buyers would cut the price they will pay by big amounts depending on the price that day. Gold is highly controlled, even if someone started mining solid gold asteroids the price would drop very slowly over many decades as the entity getting the gold wouldn't want to crash the market making their asteroid mining venture worthless. Basically all of the people, governments and companies that are able to crash the price of gold are invested in not crashing the price of gold which would only happen by flooding the market with lots of cheap gold.... it ain't gonna happen.
They ripping people off they pay 200 dollars for a gold/diamond ring and they sell it for 1000 dollars that is a 500% mark up so the 5% won't affect them in the slightest the way they rip off the poor people desperate for money.Espessialy detroit lots of desperate poor people.

@@tangatawhenua1477 they give customers who want to sell their items virtually nothing for the gold example they offer you 250 dollars for a gold diamond ring and then they sell it for 1000 dollars so when the gold prices drop that doesn't affect them the slightest with their profit margin and gold prices go up and down all the time so I don't know how he can say the shop is in trouble as they rip people of buying gold people who are poor and desperate for money they are a bunch of money greedy people it is disgusting to watch of what they pay people for items and what they sell it for I would really like to know that lady who came in with loose stones of her grandma most were glass but one stone was a very good quality big red ruby they offered her ten thousand dollars and it was probably worth much more she should of gone somewere else to have it valued but she din't and sold it to them the size of the ruby and the clarity it was probably worth 50.000 dollars the ripped off this lady big time as I know a little bit about stones with value.

For an investors it’s not that big of a deal but I imagine most of their sales and profit margins are from selling jewellery a lot of it gold so they would have to adjust their prices accordingly bringing their profit margin down even if it’s for one day

There’s a lot more to consider when you make an offer though. Is the piece nice, or if she doesn’t get it, is it only scrap? Does she have a good history? Does she let a lot of loans go? Does she have a lot of other gold on loan? Did the office take in a lot of other gold today?
Plenty to consider. The drop in gold price realistically shouldn’t have affected the loan price given, because if gold is selling for say $500 an ounce, you’re only loaning at less than 50% that amount, so you can still loan the original amount, but most likely all staff has been told to loan less on gold.

Why pawn a collection you think is worth half a million for just a quarter? If you have a bit of patience, you can take it to an auction house and get much more for it,
He wasn’t pawning it, he was selling it. If he was close to accepting 90k then he’s probably either bullshitting about his price, which seems likely when the most expensive piece was only worth $13k it seems unlikely he has 250k worth there.

Instead of bitching about gold dropping they should have really capitalised on the opportunity and bought a load of it while it was cheap,sat on it for a while then sold it when the price went back up.
