I don't get the comments about "missing" E flat. I miss it also, but it's not original to the score and about 20% of sopranos singing this role include it. She is a great talent, but must be very careful about her role selections. Choose lighter lyric roles to start.

Beautiful lady, very pretty voice, great intonation, decent agility, and also very musical. I'm glad she didn't attempt the traditional E-flat at the end, as the C-sharp seems to be the upper limit of her voice. I also wish she had sung the six written trills in sempre libera.
Why not? One thing is when you're singing the full role and if you good you do it, if not, leave it out. But here, she choose the aria herself, she should've tried it, I'm sure it would not make her lose the 2nd place.
@@arthurfilemon6038 If the note isn’t securely in your voice, why even try it?? But whether whole role or just an aria, you must sing the trills Verdi wrote.
@@Shahrdad True about the trills, my point about the E is because usually you choose an aria to REALLY kill it, you know, go ALL the way. But I guess she opted for safety.
@@arthurfilemon6038 well, let’s not forget that the E-flat isn’t written. When done well, it’s definitely an audience pleaser. The trills, however, ARE written.

Again, the voice didn't match the mouth movements. All the recordings of this final competition were not well synchronized. It made the viewing a somewhat weird feeling. What a shame to this wonderful soprano.

Esta no ganaba nunca está competencia primero que esta aria es pavosa para las competencias y segundo una soprano de primera tiene que finalizar el aria con un mi bemol
En la partitura original no está tu venerado mi bemol.
If there is no any good singer then first 3 prizes should not be given to such singers!
Décevant dès les premières notes, un aigu acide, mais qui a le mérite d'être, jusqu'à 5:55 où il n'est plus assez soutenu et crisse. On notera par ailleurs l'abandon du "g" de gioir. Ceci explique cela, et vice-versa. Sur le deuxième, çà passe, donc mention passable !

How original... To sing Violetta in a opera competition... She is amazing, but GOD can we hear some new stuff now and then?
It is our job, as audience, to transport ourselves imaginatively back to the time when this was VERY new stuff - and such fresh, alive, engaged performances help us to feel that it is indeed a premiere.

The performer has the obligation to challenge the public and bring new stuff to the old rep but present new stuff also, she did nothing that all the 9999999 other violettas did before her with the most oversanged aria of all time... I could better expose my thinking in russian portuguese and vietnamese, but i guess it was possible to understand the idea in english.

@@noeraulgarciasaldivar7917 Years ago, I was in a group where a photographers' agent was working with professional singers about having publicity pics done. She pinpointed a couple of pics and talked about the gowns. She noted that the gown should never "wear" the individual. The wearer should be able to move comfortably and the gown should be a compliment. This unfortunately was not the case here It was distracting from a very good singer,.
I actually think it really works in this case. A courtesan dresses flamboyantly. And this dress is just the right touch of over the top.
