My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless.
The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading.
I totally agree; I am 66 years old, recently retired, with approximately $1.2 million in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. To be honest, I didn't do all this alone, but with the help of a financial advisor. Having one is currently the best way to trade in the stock market, especially for people nearing retirement.

Don’t be confuse buying the dip in a bear market, with guaranteed future returns. Just because that company is down 60%+ from ATH does NOT make it a sound long-term investment. Make sure you’re investing in great companies. kudos to Sonia campbell

I made the call on Apple going downhill from here. The manufacturing has become shoddy and less quality and they aren't going to be the top dog anymore.

Focus on long term investments in property, stocks, and bonds. Avoid copying, daytrading and 'chart astrology'. Diversify across different geographies, industries, and value chain stages - to reduce your risk. You can do this with ETFs, or by selecting different stocks yourself. This is the best way to invest for more than 90% of people
I successfully trade in my own portfolio, and also follow others because I'm interested in their strategies. I realized I've got better at managing the trader's strategies too. There's nothing wrong at all with having someone far more dedicated manage some of your portfolio.
It is essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable

2.Put the extra cash towards investing in high yielding or steady investment.

I mean, maybe but Apple seems to be the best company at using existing tech in a way that makes it more appealing. Their phones are perfect for bringing chat GPT 40 to the masses through Siri. Greta for open AI to partner with them against google.
Great company, but is that where the growth is going to come from? Is that going to drive big revenue gains and pull customers away from competitors? I don't know about that.
Tesla maybe ... could go either way, Apple ... possibly. I wouldn't be willing to bet against Microsoft. Don't own Tesla anymore, holding on Apple, MSFT valuation a little rich for me but cherry-picking opportunities to buy.
