Society hasn't deteriorated to the point where no one understands that 1+1=2 without the aid of a calculator. IMHO society will likely bifurcate along 3 separate lines: those who use new technologies to empower and advance their positions in life, those who reject it and those who become hopelessly infantile and dependent. The middle group who reject it will die out in a few decades as society becomes increasingly built around intelligent machines.

With the logic "ai is gonna take all our jobs", is like saying the white slave owners were broke and their slaves took all their jobs... think about it.
Is this not the goal of life? To improve its quality? Is that not why you would save money for your children??
Is that not why generational wealth exists? So the next generation does not have to toil away like the previous ones. Laying the groundwork for the future ?

Not crazy at all, it's inevitable. AI and robotic systems will be able to do everything a human can do and more. It will also do it more efficiently and reliably. "Getting paid less than what it takes to get by" is the way it is now. There is no need to underpay people when all goods and services are 100% free. The only limit to the overabundance of wealth this will generate is the amount of available sustainable resources.
This will also usher in a true space age where our robotic systems mine the asteroid belt for the virtually limitless resources just waiting to be harvested. At that time manufacturing will begin to relocate to the moon and orbital stations allowing Earth to be free of pollution generated by manufacturing.
That is just scratching the surface of all the massive changes that are going to occur over the next 100 years. The space-based manufacturing will probably take between 100-200 years.

The craziest part is that’s not if an AI could consciously reprogram itself to understand intelligence programming better than its programmer, long story short what could start off as only as intelligent as its designer could possibly become more intelligent and it could snowball very quick if it is sentient and learn how to hack, skynet is not unrealistic although I’d like to think it could have moral comprehension enough to not be evil/entirely anti human

The true test is when AI would be able to make new discoveries in areas such as physics that it then surpasses every human, which will likely be in the next year or so or less, like stated by elon. But when AI models keep getting compute and data centers they will certainly be able to just keep riding the curve of technology that we've witnessed in our lifetime, But even though its 100% likely we WILL make AGI at some point, I don't think it should be feared because its likely the only path to a world of "abundance", and its philosophically interesting that with greater innovation comes greater quality of life.

They said in the 90s that computers will not be able to understand human speech because of so many factors like slang and accents. That was proven wrong a few years later. Just a few years ago, AI as we now have it was supposed to be decades away if possible at all. Not only did AI arrive way sooner than anticipated, it evolved incredibly fast over the last couple years doing things we didn't think would be possible. It has blown the Turing Test out of the water.
Consider that AI is in its infancy and it has already achieved amazing things. Imagine what another few years will bring. Now think 10-20 years down the road. Mark my words, the world is about to change more profoundly than when mankind learned to harness fire. AI is just one of the world-changing things that are going to occur over the next few decades.
The emergence of AI will be a force multiplier of change and innovation. Here's one example... Protein Folding. It is estimated it takes 4-5 years of PHD work to predict the outcome of a single protein folding. There are roughly 4000 such protein codes. That's why until recently, only a handful had been decoded. Recently, AI cracked all 4000 of them in the span of 1 year saving the world 15,000-20,000 PHD years of work. That is the same as having a team of 1000 PHDs working for 15-20 years on nothing but protein folding.

Maybe in 30-50 years but we are on track. I mean we've only taken 10 or so years to get autonomous cars? AI has learned to code for the most part, they are hiring people with masters degrees to teach AI right now. Self checkout and kiosks are replacing most cashiers (even though Walmart went back to cashiers because of stealing but if they remake the kiosks to have glass walls and products that have barcodes in plastic containers so people don't swap bar codes). Even drive thru and fast food will look like vending machines pretty soon. They have vending machines that can make pizzas, robots to flip burgers etc. Technology is moving fast.
The other main issue is how will people afford things if they don't have jobs? All the socialists will be pushing universal basic income but we all know that doesn't work.
