- Seen this a lot here in the rust belt. The leaf spring shackles rust out and smash through the truck bed. On top of that the bolts seize into the bushings and it pretty much requires a torch to do the job or replace the whole spring. 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 Chevrolet Silverado GMC Sierra #leafspring #shackle #repair how to replace change remove install repair torch busted leaf spring shackle replacement

👍🏽
For anyone who has to do both sides at the same time like me... Take the time and remove the 8 bolts and take the bed off, it was an hour but made working so much easier.
Just happened to my truck but I didn't know what to do about it. This was super helpful!
A man of the flame 🔥 Fast and effective 👍
this guy is a trip
I did you just as bad a few years ago I just put the weight on the spring till it went back through the hole in the bed. Easy to get at it then from the top
That's what I did. I put, I put a jackstand on the frame. And jacked up the axle until the spring came through the hole. Then I pushed the old bushing out with a ball joint press.
Bro, I appreciate the video, I really do but you kinda fast forwarded through every part I needed to see you do. This is not a video a lot of people would watch unless they are in the same boat. Please next time show the actual work and don’t skip the hard parts, that’s where I’m at and I wanted to see part by part how you did it. I do appreciate the video. Thank you.
I’ve had this same situation come in quite a few times. Next time I’ll film more 👍
dont you need to replace the bushings as well? like everyone else has said - dont skip the details. details are what make it happen. so what do ya do if you dont have a compressor, hoses and airtools?
How did you get it back out of the bed
What if it's due to the shocks need replace?
I have to ask what would you do if the brackets not the shackles needed replacing mine are very rusted on my 2008 Sierra, And they flex when you tried to unblock them so they’re about to fall off
Weld new brackets in?
Replace the rusty shackle support too.

How did you get the leaf spring out of the bed
lift the the vehicle from the frame and it releases the pressure on the springs, dont jack from axle
What
The springs look pretty bad.
Hi, lazy about showing the details. More interested in proving they got it done than showing you how they did it.
Oof!
I just said the same exact thing. I kinda wanted to see the hard parts and he fast forwarded right through them.
