The figure is called in geometry, the Reuleaux triangle. It has some interesting mathematical properties, but I’m impressed that you’re getting what look like perfect ellipses. . And then the flower! - that’s mathematically significant to my little mind. 😄

@@Alusnovalotus yes absolutely! It’s stunning.. I mean knowing the Reuleaux, and what goes into a construction on paper, and then knowing how complicated it is to construct an ellipse with compass & straight edge.. and then it give rise in the end to the flower of life! Yeah, that’s stunning to me.

Of course perfect elipses, 1 end is anchored in the middle at times, and when it is you're rotating 1/6th of a turn, and there are 6 movesets.
Essentially it's just a compass, but it draws with both ends and the middle. It's only when you shift what is the anchor point that you get anything other than circles.

If anybody is curious, this shape is a variation of the Seed of Life. The seed of life is traditionally made with perfect circles, but in some instances is made with ovals like this. Its a geometric shape known for many thousands of years. To our oldest ancestors, they knew that all cellular life starts off in the form. Now to this day, we know more accurately that this is how all multi-cellular life starts.

This is classical parametric architecture and a good class of geometry. Geometry constructions are of fundamental importance in parametric architecture and architecture in general. Compound compasses are odd forgotten objects that have a lot of use.
The algorithm and sequencing of the pattern produces an outstanding Grasshopper definition that requires lots of list shifts, list items and masking. This is not trivial. Conceiving the sequence that generates the drawing is a task on itself.
