What do we want from this channel? I can only speak for myself but I want to watch you sail around and work on your boat. It's that simple. You don't need to do anything fancy, just be yourself and live your life, that's been entertaining and educational enough for me all along.

I originally came to this channel to watch a young adventurer do something my life situation doesn't presently allow. What you and your friends did was impressive. Something I wish I would have done in my youth. The part where you fell apart because of what some young female said to you was where this train went off the rails. Move on. Keep sailing. Keep adventuring. The world is yours. Reach out and take it.

I'm sitting in my old sail boat in Tampa, up on the hard for 2 years now watching this video and wishing I could be more like you man. . I'm inspired by you to keep pursuing this dream of sailing and living free and living on a boat. I'm a bum on a boat to, too ashamed to share.

Bro...been watching for years now. And have seen you struggle from 3 guys on a boat, to boat romance, boat heartbreak, to you finding you. Glad your back Joel. last year when things were not going well for you i let you know that you had inspired me to find my own boat and set out for some of my own adventures. Well I finally found the boat I was looking for she is a 26' Sea Ray Sundancer express cruiser, and well lets just say the name closed the deal. She is called BUM N ROUND lol so I am now Officially a "BUM on a Boat".
Launching this spring for a tour around the great lakes, starting in lake Ontario from my home port of Niagara On the Lake.
Thanks again for showing so many of us that anyone can step outside their comfort zone and try new adventures, life is to short not too.

I used to have "Never take yourself TOO seriously." above my desk. It's something everyone needs a little help remembering now and then. Good for you for taking the time to try something new, realize it wasn't the right path, and get back on track. The important thing is to be true to yourself. If that means quitting making YT videos, or even sailing, that's your journey. We're glad you are back at it, though. We're doing an Atlantic Delivery from Virginia to Portugal starting the first week of May, maybe well see you "out there." We look forward to that story, too! Namaste. 🙏

If you love the out door life style don't chain yourself to a desk. It's not written that we must become a millionaire to be happy. Find what makes you happy and find a way to support yourself doing something that you enjoy. Don't let others push you into their mold. We [I] watched from the beginning to experience something most of us will never do. From the original adventure, to the romance, the hardship of being on the hard and all the boat work. That all took something most of us would not endure, and yet there you both were living the best life despite the challenges...and now there is one. You are in a Fishbowl so to speak and no explanation is required...just do it...we're watching. Capt. Keith's[Zatara] oldest boy Jack is going to school as we speak to get his Captains license. Zatara had recent episodes going through there, it should be interesting to see the difference between the two
Admittedly, I was worried about you but, having recently gone through a huge event of my own, I understood what we have to work through to get to a place where we are ready to start healing. Sounds interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I really enjoyed seeing Thomas and Linda again; I've known them since the early 1980s, before they were a couple. I hope you get to go thru the Suez Canal. It was the whole reason I went on that early 2023 cruise, and it exceeded my expectations. You are going to have a wonderful and life changing cruise. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing it with us.

Your trip on the Privilege is going to give you experience that you could gain no other way in terms of what it takes to prepare for and cross an ocean, both physically and psychologically. It's gonna be great. Not a lot to see out in the middle of the ocean though...no wildlife and even the stars are not that great. Lots of clouds though lol. See if you can get to the Swizzle Inn in Bermuda...my card is on the ceiling near the bar with thousands of others from a Bermuda race lol. Hope you have a great trip, and hope you get back to Luperon some day...the poker tables misses you.

I chose the career life which lead me away from the ocean but I sometimes wish I’d taken your path. Many of us watch to live vicariously through your much more adventurous lifestyle. Also, being a captain at some point is an awesome goal to work towards, go Joel go!
Joel, just keep doing what made you successful in the past!! People love to see you succeed and probably even more love to see you fail. Most people don’t go to a car race to see the successful winners but go to see the car recks.
I watch because I’m interested in getting my own boat for my retirement. Thankfully after seeing how much work it is, I’ve learned it’s probably too much trouble for an old man. So thanks for helping me see what the future might have been.
I figured you were making some bank so that you could continue your journey. That's perfectly OK. You won't be the first and you won't be the last to do something like that. It's a great education in sailing in store for you.

great video. I am subscribed for a long time . I have only watched a few in a long time, because I got out of sailboat theory. I think it is way cheaper and more comfortable to just live on a small budget on land in an apartment in an affordable country. Anyways I think there are many music videos saying a similar thing.. (maybe about dealing with stuff in your mind. ) yes I can relate, or I would not be posting now.

I've been watching from early days. At first it was like watching a train wreck 😂. The more I watched the better your got. It's been great watching you progress in your knowledge of sailing and navigation as well as boat maintenance and improvements. If nothing else you have given fuel to many peoples dreams. Lol yes! A train wreck that was hard to look away from. It’s amazing when I see the other two and how that time in their lives was a spring board to their current lives which are rich with love and success.
@Bumsonaboat it was hard to watch initially. Lol. I grew up around boat building and have built boats myself. You have come a long way. Knowledge that will serve you for the rest of your life. Once the ocean is in your veins it never leaves. Maybe you can sail her up the west coast one day. The pacific northwest and the inside passage is magical. Although a little cooler than what you are currently doing. 😆

Ever since the incident you’ve been going through a flux, you even thought about changing the name of your channel which we live viewers and others such as your patron supporters talk to you out of I mean, think about it sailing good bad, and ugly is no longer a sailing channel. Foxes afloat used to be about long boats on the British canals. Now they are farming channel. These channels didn’t change their name even though they changed everything else about their lifestyle and most of their loyal followers keep watching just like your loyal watchers, such as myself, and others kept watching you. I personally didn’t have a problem with you on the catamaran and found it quite entertaining. I figured that was something to take up time seeing how your friend who came to help you got injured and had to go back to the states. Thought maybe you were just Giving him time to heal. Guess I was wrong there. Turns out you were trying to get more experience and knowledge which is always a good thing. As they say, never stop learning. Anyways, still subscribed still enjoying the channel you take care and have fun.

*Just food for thought Joel.* I starting watching your videos because I love watching young sailors exploring this world and growing…but it seems like there wasn't any growth for awhile and I stopped watching then the breakup came. I didn't unsubscribe because I see YOU and your kind soul and wanted to support your channel. I sense your current struggle and have empathy because I too have struggled because of multiple and serial hard losses that were difficult to overcome. At the beginning of my healing journey, I too started reading and watching all the self-help gurus; however, I struggled to heal for a long time because that was not enough plus it’s very difficult to come to clear understandings and make wise productive decisions when you’re stressed and pained as you probably know. I later learned to let go of my ego and take responsibility for the bad decisions that led to my suffering; learned to meditate and handle anxiety; learned to be present and not be in my head all the time - still wasn't enough. I went to therapy which I highly recommend…it’s amazing how much verbalizing things helps and it taught me to let go of the false beliefs/stories I had about life and myself that I learned when young from family dynamics and my parent's behavior & words (although they were good people just trying their best too). Plus it was good to learn how to effectively communicate and have honest hard conversations when needed instead of pushing everything under the rug. I learned to not judge, make assumptions, forgive, and have compassion and I started liking myself better but therapy was still not enough. Being active and exercise helped but something was deeply missing. I started learning about science, the universe, the earth and everything in it, the electro-magnestism force around us, (possiblities related to the string theory, multiple universes, etc.), the forest and fungi communication, our brains and bodies, etc. etc. and MARVELED how crazy spectacular it all was - yet was amazed about how little we know and understand. I came a long way and I knew how special every single being and life is but I still couldn't be free of all the negative thoughts, worries, and pain to just be happy. Then I studied and learned about all past and present religions and spiritual beliefs from people who had spent their life studying them plus learned the teachings from past and present great spiritual men especially the Buddha and Jesus - that was amazing but I was still lost and broken. Then I freakin learned about quantum physics and quantum entangledment and BANG it all came together!! I now know God is not a man in the sky but something scientifically amazing…it is something strangely incredible that we could never understand (that is why Jesus taught with parables). Somehow everything and everybody is connected and we simply need to love. I don't know how it works but somehow our connected energy or something starts working in harmony. However, I do know that life is hard when living in negativity and life will somehow throw you lessons to learn when living with ignorance. Just be you Joel and know that living with love and kindness AND with a bit of *wisdom* is all that is needed to be on the right path and have a joyful life. It’s not magic…just spooky action at a distance as Albert Einstein said! Well that’s my story and I hope it helps. I'm better now and try to carry light and love within me everyday which I hope positively helps people that I connect with. I'm now grateful for all the hardships because I have evolved into a better human being. But we are imperfect humans so I make it a *daily practice* to pray/meditate/be present to stay connected and mindful of what’s important - as well as allow myself grace and to others. I wish you all the best on your healing journey Joel…just keep learning and evolving with love in your heart and I'm sure all will be well. 💙
