Oh, Mandy
Well, you came
And you gave without taking
But I sent you away
Oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me
And stopped me from shaking
And I need you today
Oh, Mandy

No computers, no garbage. Just a true love song sung the way it should be
my mom LOVED Barry Manilow. I used to hate hearing his songs and how much she liked him and his music. She passed last September. Now i like listening to him to memorialize her, and it feels like a piece of her is still here🥺🪽
I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, by listening to Barry Manilow she's definitely with you. Peace
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
This was my dad's favorite song to sing. He passed 4 months ago and I'm trying to learn all the songs he used to sing so I and other people won't forget about him whenever I sing all the songs he used to love. I miss you papa.
Hoy y siempre amén 🎉
He is singing with the angels now .
❤love Barry Manlow
I share in the sorrow. The most important thing is to preserve beautiful memories. wishing you may never know sorrow again
❤
I'm 67 in July and still listening to Barry every chance I get.
Ditto
I’m about to turn 42 in the next few weeks. I love Barry! 💜💜💜
Just takes us all back to 1974-1980, thank you Barry, we were all kids listening to an AM radio in the bedroom when we first heard you and the hits just kept coming! What a beautiful life it's been and we all wish you the Best! Even Now ! Even though you're very Old! If you didn't write the Songs you certainly could sing them !!!
If a song can spark a feeling that brings a tear, Barry Manilow can do it..I love him❤
I am listening to this song . I am 65 . I heard this when I was very young .
Oh my good old days .
They will never come back .
This music/song is awesome
I'm 64, and I love listening to Barry Manilo and so many others. I too miss the good old days. What a scary world today, that's why I say Thank God For Memories when they are awesome and worth remembering 👍😊
My beautiful sister bought this album for me when it first came out in the 70s, she thought as young black girl how could I like Barry Manilow when she realized that I wasn't going to change my mind she surprised me one day when I got home from school with the album on my bed, I lost my beautiful sister in 2014, but I will always cherish that memory forever, 2021 and I still adore Barry Manilow.
@Dave Clifford Thank You Dave For That, We Both Have Great Taste Regarding Barry Manilow.
I’m sorry for your loss ..
bless you
She lives in his music! Go see her!
Very bad song.. makes my head hurt

Música não envelhece, nós quem envelhecemos e a cada dia fica mais provado: os tempos das "boas músicas" já foram...
Yes. With your soul.❤
Barry's music has saved people who were lost. He's so humble. An angel ❤.
Angel loves this song.
I went to his last Pittsburgh concert back some years. My husband said I smiled the whole night.
I was in junior high when this song came out and listened to it on AM radio. I begged mom to take me to Woolworths so I could buy the 45 record. We could really use more songs like this and artists like Manilow right now.
You are so right!
HA! Your story is my story. I too was in junior high and also like you, I begged my mother to take me to Woolworths. Unreal!
Same. I was in middle school and this song shook me hard. I was such a loser at the time and after hearing this song I knew I would find love someday.
Woolworths was great! My dad would sit at the coffee counter having coffee and breakfast and us kids would roam the store. No one ever had a fear of being kidnapped. ITS ALL GONE NOW! ALL RUINED!!
Amen!, to what you said, 😊
One of the most beautiful songs ivr ever heard
This song makes me cry when I was 9 years old, and it still makes me cry.
I'm 57 years old now. I was going on 10.

Feel you at 56:)
I thought I was the only one who felt like crying every time I heard it.😁
Amo questa canzone!una voce meravigliosa...😊😍😘🎶🎸🎶💘💓💯💋🌅
Me too, me too
Never appreciated this song until the other night driving home from work it came on the radio & i found myself turning it up full blast and belting out the chorus with Barry. Absolute banger.
Was a teenager of the 70s loved him so much still do!!
it's a banger and a Bazza. Who could ask for more?
I grew up in the 70s and absolutely loved Barry Manilow's music. Mandy was always my favorite though. I'm curious how many moms out there named their daughter "Mandy" like I did. My beautiful Mandy was born in 1986.
I did! Fanilow for life❤
We didn't. But then again, we only had two boys... who I doubt would have appreciated it! (But yep, if we had a girl there's a very good chance she would have been Mandy)
My first love was Mandy. I blew it and lost her. This song would have been too painful all those years ago. Now, it's a beautiful ballad that reminds me of a special woman I once knew.
Sino haz encontrado el amor verdadero PRONTO APARECERA.
That's beautiful to hear, and I can relate.
Have you thought about contacting her? If you’re single at the moment and if she is too, then there might be a chance.
Yes.😟
Ohhh I had one of those too, 😔
musically speaking, BAD BOY here. composer, singer, and piano player, musician.
This song makes me cry everytime I hear it, my daughter's name is Mandy, I miss her very much.❤
Saludos hoy y siempre amén 🎉
My daughter's name was Mandy too she died aged 32 I still missed after 32 years has passed.love it.
Me two.
Me too
Same here you never forget a loved child.
I remember when I was young my dad and mom would play Barry Manilow on the record player. It is because of them I continue to play his records and cd's. Great person, songwriter, and singer! How can you not love his music.
Buddy Long that's the way to do it I'm singing it right now. To my kids they were like what kind of song is that.
just beautiful...
I was a sophomore in HS when this was released. 'Mandy' is arguably Manilow's signature song. A few years before my mom passed, I took her to see him at the Erwin Center in Austin. Just a great time and a great memory.
For me it was the Bee Gees, pre disco.
Buddy Long almost the same memories for me to.
I shake my head in disbelief that Barry once thought this was a throwaway song. My God I'm so glad he changed his mind.
True masterpiece hasn't aged a day, just like our emotions for this hit classic.
youknowwhoitis28-Sometimes it’s like 🍷 wine- the older the better.

The "Mandy" in my life didn't have that name, but I will always remember the thrill of finding that a social outcast like me could actually be loved by such a beautiful and bright young woman. She opened an entirely new world for me, one that I could only imagine very dimly before she came along.
My favorite song
Hard to believe 47 years has past since this bloomed in the music garden! What an artist... he could turn bologna into prime rib! Pure talent 👌🙏

Saw Barry years ago . One of the best shows I've seen. Mandy is a classic
This song will forever hold a special place in my heart.
My girlfriend in high school was named Mandy. She was the most GORGEOUS human being I have ever seen in my life. We dated for a couple years, and I built her a clock (yes, a clock. A large grand-father clock) with the album by Barry Manilow as the face of the clock at the top.
I went to boot camp, and when I got home, I found out that she had slept with a few of my friends. I broke up with her, and I never saw her again.
This is almost 15 years ago. Still the prettiest girl I ever met, still a heart-break. Last I heard she got divorced and was dating somebody new. I hope life is going well for her ♥️
Awww....
Juan, I hope you get the girl!!!
Oooooomg this is so incredibly relatable dude
❤
Wow, the same thing happened to me when I was in boot camp. My very first serious girlfriend that said she would not cheat on me cheated on me with two different guys while I was there. I came home for Christmas for 3 weeks in between boot camp and AIT. I forgave her and then she said she would never do that again and that she loved me so much. Then I went to AIT and I was gone for 5 months. I missed her so much only to find out that she then permanently broke up with me and started dating another guy who just so happened to be going into boot camp himself. She ended up breaking up with him too later on. Looking back on it I don't know why I loved her so much. She was a w**** and she was sleeping with everybody but I really thought it was different with me. I was only 18 young and stupid 😢
I remember laying down on the floor of my bedroom, lost in the feeling.on my belly with an old cassette tape recorder I remember the strong desire to have that love story. I would wait seemed like forever for my favorite songs, you know there was no rewind on radios. Needless to say I was anxious for “my songs” to play on the radio. I was ready to push down play/record buttons. After all of my awkwardness of my teen years. I would bring out my cassettes and listen. Through the heart aches of those years I feel like it helped me to realize that life is great.Once I got old enough for a job I bought 45’s and albums. I started my family, three children ‘ raising them on my music. They listen to that music to this day and tell the stories that I told them. How important those songs meant to me. So now their stories carry on my feelings of my awkward years. Thank you for the Beautiful Music
I did the same thing.....waiting and waiting till my favorite song came on the radio to press play on the recorder....... You made me laugh and Smile....... Thank you.....!!😇😊
@@caroldesarnoNeNe45 you know what I mean. Ahhh such fine memories
That part with the recorder, I did the same.
Hellow, do you search Scott English playing "Brandy", It is the same song but a different singer.
Yes! I'd completely forgotten about waiting for songs and holding the play/record buttons ready. Good memories. This is my favorite song of all time.
Dear God, if this song doesn't pull at your heart strings, nothing will.

Love was VERY different in the 70s & 80s. It was more than okay to open your chest and expose your heart. Men singing about vulnerability was sexy.
Music doesn't even come CLOSE to what it was back then.

I loved the song MANDY and when I was a very young i said if i ever have a girl I would name her Mandy and my first born was a girl and i named her Mandy she is 38 years old and she loves the song too I'm happy i made my promise never regretted it i love the song thanks Barry Manilow💗💗💗💗
Debbie Venezia my name is Mandy and I'm 38 too.... bday is 7/15/79
Debbie - mine was "Sarah Smile" by Hall & Oates. I named her Sarah but she didn't survive the first 3 months. I will never feel whole again. I'm 65 now and she was my biggest regret in all that time. 1980 - it was the last year I ever felt worth the Oxygen I consumed.
My Mom did the same. She remembered a character in the story Heidi that she wanted to name a daughter. She had me in 1979. I turned 40 on March 27th.
I'm so deeply sorry Dave. God bless you brother.
Mandy is my favorite girls name.
Happy Birthday today, Barry!
Oh i love Barry so much!, his music has gone with me since the 70's until today, i worked one of his concerts at the Omni in Atlanta, Ga. In 1986, i was an Usher there, he wouldn't allow us employees to watch him practice for his concert, i wanted to silently watch him but i wasn't allowed, i enjoyed working the show, and i bought a Tshirt, the guy's working with me laughed at me for buying it, they were young, so was I, but i didn't care, i loved his music. Mandy has always been my favorite. God bless you Barry, where ever you are!❤❤❤
His breakthrough hit-A certifiable classic!

Meu Deus,EU AMO esta música!!!❤🇧🇷
Que música maravilhosa, sinto fortes emoções quando a ouço !
Urban legend has it, original author of this song was written for his dog. I’m here because I just lost my 13 year American Eskimo named Miko. Had him when he was 2 weeks old, he was older than my son. Miko would not leave my sight for a single second. Slept next to me, was next to my office, couch, waited for me when I was in the restroom, spend the most time in the kitchen looking for scraps. I miss you so much and it’s only been 2 hours! Thank you for all the memories. Love you!! 💔🐶
oh i love this comment most of all...i am so sorry about your loss. i work in rescue and know that these feelings come from your heart. in loving memory of Mandy and Miko.
Your post remind me of a dog that was not mine but took up with me back in the 70's. She stayed at my house all of the time I think because I took care of her. She waited every morning for me to take a shower before she would go downstairs. She would follow me to work because I walked to work at the time. Sometimes I would have to leave work to take her back home...lol. She was like my shadow. She even came over to my house to have her pups in my bed, which was not a pretty site but it told me how much she loved me to do that. She really trusted me and guarded me. Amazing how much we can get attached to a pet and that they get attached to us. Glad you have your memories of your dog. I still have mine all of these years.
Going to see Barry Manilow tonight!! I know or hope he will sing this song. Love him and his music
This song blaring during the car chase in Too Old To Die Young might be my favorite thing ever. 😌
Young of the best scenes I've seen in awhile.
One of the greatest moments in cinema tbh. Encapsulates the show and protagonist thematically.
That was a good scene
@@pachucodreams It’s a streaming miniseries, so it fits into the the TV category, not cinema.
@@TheWelchProductions The lines have blurred a great deal in what's straight tv or well crafted serialized tv like Sopranos and Breaking Bad. TOTDY leans towards being a 13 hour movie and was even shown at Cannes with episodes 4 and 5 combined. It's kind of how Bergman's Scenes of a Marriage, Kieslowski's Dekalog, Lynch's The Return, or Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz can be argued as still being cinema. Like Bela Tarr's 8hr long movie called Satantango.
A classic. It’s 2022 and Mandy is still awesome.

RIP Magpie, you’ll never be forgotten little one.
c'mon man, this song is dedicated to women, gtfo with your dead pet
I had a wonderful friend I called Little One. I understand.
Yes, the pain is the same for humans and for pets because true love hurts.
She is in a very happy place now.
I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice
Shadows of a man
A face through a window cryin' in the night
The night goes into
Morning just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
How happy you made me
Oh Mandy well
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away
Oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today
Oh, Mandy!
I'm standing on the edge of time
I've walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my mind and nothin' is rhyming
Oh Mandy well,
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
And I need you today
Oh, Mandy!
Yesterday's a dream
I face the morning
Crying on a breeze
The pain is calling
Oh Mandy
Well, you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today oh, Mandy
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh, Mandy
You kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you
Thanks. Great lyrics

Just a brilliantly brilliantly written song !
I enjoy reading all the comments of joy and heartbreak this classic song has had on people...i add my own now. As i was going through my divorce 12 years ago, i sat in the dark in a lonely house crying my heart out listening to this song over and over. It was painful, but it helped me heal as well. Her name wasn't Mandy, but Wendy was close enough...first time I've listened to this in 12 yrs
Sorry, Brother. Just keep smiling as much as possible and generate a good frequency of peace and excitement inside. That magnetism will bring lots of people close and maybe one will be someone that you have some common interests with. Sometimes men and women don’t find someone really good for them until late in life, and that’s OK. Life lasts much longer than our time here aboard Earth.

Barry Manilow vocals are so for real natural sounding by this song MANDY as well as his choice of words that he's singing to this tear jerker persons can just vision to see what Barry Manilow's saying in singing about Mandy is a bit sad in some ways; but, so beautifully heartfelt in another way to cry about.
