The Farmer Daughter is one of my favorite Merle Haggard. I have one she has some problems and will never be able to get married. I would feel just like that if she was able to get married.
This song says Mama left in December and one of the ofter songs I love og his says if we make it through December we'll be fine.
I don't know of a Merle Haggard song I don't like.
Noel you are so right God gives us the gift. My Daddy was a preacher and only had a sixth grade education. And he could preach as good as anyone I have ever heard. He had trouble reading books but when he got up there to preach he didn't miss a word. Like Moses God gave him the Ability to do what he called him to do.

Marty's Grandmother Raised Him in Church and I Thank God for Grandmother's who Raise their Grandchildren Up in Church because Mom's and Dad's don't have Time for their Children but Grandmother's and Jesus does and Marty and Merle's Mother always Prayed for Merle Soul so Yes if any has a Problem with someone talking about Jesus Christ they are the Ones the Most needs Jesus Christ because He Loved them so much , John 3:16 prayers 🙏❤️.

Jesus truly blessed Merle. The world was blessed for him being here. When God gives you a gift He does it for a purpose and for His glory and Merle knew that. Willie Nelson is the same way. These two men has influenced and blessed the world with their gifts.

C.S. Lewis wrote about humility. It matches with what Merles son said about it. Lewis said "Humility is not a handsome person that thinks he is ugly, nor is it an intelligent person who thinks he is a fool. But true humility lies in recognizing the positive things we have in life are gifts. We don't originate them. They are given to us.
I loved Merle since the first time I heard him. Now I have even a higher opinion of him after hearing all the great stories from those that knew him.
Love Merle! I never get bored of hearing stories about him.
My wife passed away in 2021her favorite country. Song was silver wings in 1973 iwas just out of the marines Vietnam veteran I would sing it to her when she died we married almost 48 years merely was my favorite country singer

MERLE WAS GREAT AND GREAT MUSIC
I had the honor of spending a couple of days in the studio invited by my Uncle, Fred Foster, when Merle, Ray Price, and Willie recorded the album “Last of the Breed”. I had a chance to talk with them and it was a great great great honor. They were so talented and friendly it blew my mind.

Reallly enjoyed all the episodes and was very impressed and happy to hear Ray Benson and Jeannie Sealy speak so glowingly of Bonnie Owens ad Metle said eithout her there wouldn't have been Merle Haggard. I beleive they loved each other till the end but more ad respect than being in love. RIP MERLE AND BONNIE. They had the best sound ever. Love from Queensland Australia ❤❤

Merle Haggard was a man of great character who did time in prison as a youth. To be a great artist like he was, it seems to help to have had some personal tests and trials along the way. I think it strengthened Merle's emotional input in his great music. He was one of the greats, like George Jones, who had a rare talent for reaching into our amygdala.

Person. Yet. His music and talent for. Singing. Was. A passion. He lived. Those in the
Same. Professional
I remember listening to Merle in a cold, cold, flour mill in Montana in winter in the mid 1970s. They had a decent audio and I would hear him on the radio which was turned up very high so we could hear it over the rumble of the mills. I was a sweeper and it was a dusty, noisy job. I worked graveyard from 11pm to 7am and vacummed floors number 7, 3,1, and the basement . One of the favorites at that time was "If we make it through December." The words touched my situation. " If we make it through December, everythings gona be all right I know. It is the coldest time of winter and I shiver when I see the falling snow" I was so cold. The mill was not heated, but we got some heat off the large electric motors and the wide flat belts. But I was making over $5 and hour and my last job had paid $2.20 so I toughed it out. "If we make it through December, I got plans to be in a warmer town come summertime, maybe even California, If I make it through December I'll be fine." My cousin and I were planning a trip around the USA on a bicycle trip. Several thousand miles. I had my little tent and my panniers and my Peugeot bicycle all bought and ready to go by for our trip starting in May. Just had to make it through the winter earning that $1,000 bucks a month. That song helped me make it through the winter.

in 1983 my dog died then my mom 2 weeks later my brother in law got killed a week later then I watched my beloved brother get 5 years in san Quentin a few weeks later. he said to me janue girl I am writing country music but darlin you are living it. you are the toughest little girl I will ever know those words go everywhere with me

I really wish I could get in touch with Kellie and Dana Haggard rhey are very sweet ladies once when I was working on lake Shasta at the resort he bought,my shoe broke kelli drove into town to loan me shoes cuz she didn't want me to step on any glass I miss them to .I remember Noel when he was really young.i bless them all every night.the years I worked there was the best time of my life.anx j have to say j was bell on wheels when I was working as a cocktail waitress.i could walk on empty chairs to deliver drinks it truly was a magical time I will cherish untill I take my last breath.........

As they say he is the poet. So much depth to a man who was so down to earth who loved , lived and loved again. Awesome singer, song writer and just a common every day man. You can't beat the best and that is " Merle Haggard." He moves you like no other. Miss him,love him,he will love on forever.He gave us hope and something to live by. Sometimes I Dream. Love all of his songs,love him.RIP. Keep on making music,playing music and I know your fishing. You could not only hear the story but feel the stories. Love him. ❤❤❤

Personal religious beliefs should be just that... PERSONAL. The vast majority of humanity do not adhere to the tenants of Christianity... or any MAN MADE religion.
To be told on this program that if we are "bored" hearing of him then "we have a problem" is an offensive remark to me and many others I suspect.
What each of us believes is product of our culture, where we were born and what we were taught.
Since there are reported to be more than 3,000 GODS, what more evidence do you need to prove what I just wrote?
The Christian deity is ONE among thousands. And every person believes THEIR god is the True god.
Since this cannot be true to imply that the god that others believe in is somehow not legit is downright disrespectful.

Say what you want, and believe what you want. Marty tries way too hard to make everything he says poetic, dramatic, and he pushes the Jesus thing way too hard. There's a time and a place. This isn't a sermon, it's a tribute. I found it to be selfish and annoying.
