Wahoo, I love Bhajis but I only ever have failures when |I try to deep fry anything, I can never get the electric hob to give a stable temperature. I'll be trying these tomorrow. Thank you. Thank you, I tried them today and they are great, I would just add for anyone trying them to use a good spray of oil or they'll be a little dry, give the top another spray before you flip them halfway through the cooking and obviously the bottom when it gets turned to the top. They are delicious. That kilo of besan flour will not be going to waste.
I have tried making mixed vegetable version (pakodas as we call in Bangalore, south India) in air fryer. They come out very well. I don’t have an oil spray but I use a brush to lightly oil the pakodas half way through frying. I use little rice flour instead of corn flour for getting a crispy texture. I haven’t made onion pakodas yet. Seeing how nicely you have made them, puts them on my menu list now. Will try the corn flour version. Thank you for the recipe.
I make onion bhakis with just sliced onions, a bit of whatever spice and besan ( chickpea flour). Slice the onions, add salt and leave sit for a while l dont time it but once the liquid from the onions oozes then they are ready. Add spices and gradually add😅 the flour until you get a thick batter consistency and everything sticks together. I use clean hands then you can really get in and squash the onions with the flour. Then cook as usual. I watched a guest on one of Madhur Jaffreys cooing shows do them this way.
First time here but this won a subscription. The onion bhaji is a superb snack but for such as I it is now not as healthy as I need, too many saturates, until now that is 😃 this should be well within the limits. Will be trying this. Thank you.
Your YT channel is the best! I'm just cooking a batch of these, I'm going to eat them with your Aloo Gobi (amazing recipe) and your Naan bread, thanks for the recipes x
love onion bhajis but unfortunately the wife threw away my deep fat fryer 6 years ago so couldn't cook them,....thx for this shamza will deffo try this!
To make it even more crispy try using a TBS of Rice flour. The crunchiness lasts for ages (when I used to deep fry them). However, I have never tried to make them in an Air Fryer so will definitely try your version now!
These definitely look good. I'll have to play around with the mixture and time cooking though as i can't have them too crunchy as I no longer have teeth and crunchy foods really hurt my gums - sometimes for days 😞
Hi Shamza. These look delicious, especially since they are not fried the conventional way. I somewhat think this is better. This will be super delicious for the current cold weather in SA. Take care.
Hi I have done your recipe for onion bhaji in the air fryer a couple of times now and find that they come out great every time. They are much easier to make than deep fried and there is not the oil to deal with at the end.
Now I'm waiting for my airfryer (bought at your Amazon shop) to turn up so I can get cooking. I've vowed to fast until it arrives, so I hope their ETA is correct ! I've got a feeling I'll be trying ALL your airfrying rcipes this week- thanks again Shamza, brilliant channel, one day you will overtake Chetna, I'm sure.
thank you for your lovely comment. We hardly use our oven now, the air fryer gets used almost daily. We are constantly testing new recipes out in it. Check out my latest videos, you'll love them!!
Just made your Onion Bhaji's and they are delicious, thank you! Can they be frozen cooked and then defrosted and reheated (or reheated from frozen), or will they go soggy?
Yes, absolutely. Just cook and freeze. Then to reheat, I just pop them into the microwave for a few seconds to heat through and then airfry for a few minutes.
As a technique that works brill. I Hate deep frying . I brushed on the oil, and at halfway.. brushed more on . I used diff ingredients, as someone mentioned, .. rice flour, instead of cornstarch, and I just used curry powder, garam, fenugreek, and a prob a tbsp of ground up fennel seeds. Might ditch fresh coriander..next time , cos couldn't taste it . Obvs not as sweet as the deep fried..caramalised onion experience . But this method well acceptable ✅
I wonder if boiling the onion then slice when cool would make these taste more like the fried version. I'm going to try both ways. Thankyou they look amazing
Yes they can be reheated in an airfryer, I normally microwave them to warm them through quicker then throw them in the airfryer. They also freeze well too but I recommend eating these freshly cooked on the day
I haven't tried them so cannot comment but I don't see why not. You may need to play around with the timings and temperature until you get it right but it's definitely doable.
I'm sure she'll do a air fryer pakora recipe at some point :) But yes I think it would work, keep the potato thin, grated will work like cynthia has said.
Good show video but so you should type English substitute because deaf people can’t heard from you talk faster how to make your cook? But yes Am deaf sign language asl
Hi Mike all subtitles should be available for most of my vidoes in English, please click the CC button on the video. Let me know if you have any issues, we try to keep them all updated as best we can.
Hi sham . Love your videos but air fryer recipes aren’t ’doing it for me .! I have a ninja but not for Indian food ! Not going to make this . But love your previous recipes .
Great video, enjoyed, they looked yummy.

Great idea for healthier version or have no oil at home and shops are closed. Wonderful and will try this method. Thanks Shamza.

One word, magnificent.

Yes you can!
love onion bhajis but unfortunately the wife threw away my deep fat fryer 6 years ago so couldn't cook them,....thx for this shamza will deffo try this!
Oh no, these are probably a better option as they're healthier. Enjoy and thanks!
They look better than the deep fried ones
😋

Must spray with avocado oil spray that can withstand high temperatures.
Yummy, sound's delicious!😊
It was!

Wow! Just made them. They are so easy and really delicious! Thank you!👍
Looking forward to trying many of your inspiring recipes and tips using my air fryer. Great channel 👏
Hi Shamza. These look delicious, especially since they are not fried the conventional way. I somewhat think this is better. This will be super delicious for the current cold weather in SA. Take care.
Yes, you are right 😊🙌
Yummy

Hi could you please tell me what you mean by "fry off the rest of the oil?'" Does it mean use a frying pan? They look lovely
Thanks looks delicious. What oil spray your using ?
Very nice recipe! Can i make this in my single oven?
Do they reheat well in the Airfryer too? Or freeze well? Might have to try halving a batch, or we could end up overdoing it in a household of 2
They reheat well in the air fryer and also in the oven. Don't put them in the microwave, they turn soggy.
Yes they can be reheated in an airfryer, I normally microwave them to warm them through quicker then throw them in the airfryer. They also freeze well too but I recommend eating these freshly cooked on the day
Thank you for the recipe. I’m following you from Turkey. What can I use instead of deghi mirch and gram flour? I don’t know what they are. Thank you 🙏
Kashmiri chilli powder is similar to degi mirch and chickpea flour is gram flour
@@RashidRaja thank you very much!
If you don't find Kashmiri chili powder, use paprika. If you don't find chickpea flour, use rice flour or even corn flour.
Shamza, quick one is it possible to make these in a normal oven? I don’t have an air fryer!
I haven't tried them so cannot comment but I don't see why not. You may need to play around with the timings and temperature until you get it right but it's definitely doable.
I don’t know if it’s been asked yet but can u use red onion instead of white ?
Absolutely
U r so good ❤😊
Thank you so much 😀
Could you please give the measurements of Walter and flour in cups?
Try this as cooking them in oil ends up too expensive as you have to chuck the oil away
Very true, I hope you liked them
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes I did this us the way il make them from now on ,thanks
I ADORE READING
Can you use red onions?
Absolutely
What is Diggy Mitch? (208 / 703).
Pls give measurements in cups
Do you think it's possible to swap the onions with some potatoes for a pakora?
Yes, try grated/shredded potatoes. Also works great with shredded cabbage. I make them regularly in the air fryer.
I'm sure she'll do a air fryer pakora recipe at some point :) But yes I think it would work, keep the potato thin, grated will work like cynthia has said.
Is corn flour the same as corn starch?
Yes it is, uk and USA terms 👍
So where is your cookbook? Love your recipes but I reckon you need to produce a cookbook. See what Andy Cooks has done on CZcams.
Maybe one day! Thanks 😊👍
Like 😢😢😢

I really like your recipe but make easier to give the recipe not milliliter not grams just spoon and cups please 😊
Please start cooking and show us the recipe BEFORE you do the tasting. Found it an irritating way to get us to stay on your channel for longer.
Amazing.
