They r using OPI # 6 flat gel brush . There r two # 6 on their site you would want the one that says “ flat “

Can French guides be used instead of having to use the clean up method?

I’m guessing you can. I could never freehand, especially when using my non dominant hand. I did see in another video that you should apply a base coat before the gel so you get a smooth line when removing the guides.

If i want to just paint the white nail tip without the neutral colour do i have to use a transparent uv polish or can i use base + top only?

It’s fine to just use base, white and top ☺️ it just looks more “perfect” when there’s a pinkish nude underneath to even out the nail bed.
